Clarence L. R. Kirckof age 81, of Brooten died on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Abbott North West Hospital in Minneapolis.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 5-8:00 pm on Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Clarence Leonard Robert Kirckof was born on September 3, 1930, in the North Fork Township, the son of Herbert and Elsie (Dahlke) Kirckof.  He grew up on the family farm where he attended Willow Grove Country School.  After his schooling Clarence worked on the family farm.  On December 19th, 1976 Clarence was united in marriage to Ruth Lockett, at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten.  This union was blessed with five daughters and a son.  The family made their home in rural Brooten, where Clarence farmed and milked cows.  Clarence loved the land and his cattle; he was a hard worker who passed that trait down to his children.  Clarence continued to farm until his retirement in 1989.  After his retirement he and Ruth moved into Brooten.

Clarence was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belgrade and confirmed into the Christian Faith at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten where he remained a member until his death.  Clarence was a quiet man who loved the outdoors.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also enjoyed reading and watching western movies.  Clarence will be remembered by many that would greet him as he rode his scooter around town. 

Clarence Leonard Robert Kirckof died on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Abbott Northwest in Minneapolis, he was 81.  Clarence is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth; children, Matt (Luan) Fisher of Annandale, Kathy Jacobson of Montrose, Janice (Dean) Sorby of Buffalo, Melissa “Ruthie” (Jim) Welte of Brooten,and Kelly Kirckof of Brooten; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers, Willard (Dorothy) of New Ulm, and Richard of Brooten; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Drewelow of Beardsley.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deborah; brother, David; and sister Dorothy.
