Terry Lee McKinzie, 52, of Plymouth, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Mille Lacs. His funeral will be 11:00 am Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church in Kerkhoven. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven. Visitation will be Monday, July 9th from 5-7 pm at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Terry was born on July 17, 1959, in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of Isaac and Juanita (Stewart) McKinzie. He grew up in North Salem where he attended school and graduated from Tri-West High School in 1977. After high school, Terry worked for Yellow Freight before moving to Florida where his family had moved in the late 1970’s. While living in Florida, he worked for his brother in carpet cleaning. In 1990, Terry moved to Minneapolis where he started Quality Carpet Care, doing water restoration and mold remediation.
On August 13, 1994, he was united in marriage to Linda Timmons at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church, rural DeGraff. They lived in Plymouth where he continued to operate his business.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and especially spending time at Lake Mille Lacs where he was in the process of building their lake home where he had hoped to retire.
Surviving are his wife, Linda (Timmons) McKinzie and sons, Kyle and Ethan all of Plymouth; brother, Doyle (and Lan) McKinzie of Panama City Beach, FL; sisters, Connie McKinzie of Indianapolis, IN and Shirley (and Robert) Mattix of Naples, FL; sisters-in-law, Jean (and Chuck) Rustad of Kerkhoven; Barb (and Larry) Willey of Bakersfield, CA; brothers-in-law, John (and Jorene) Timmons and David (and Sue) Timmons and father-in-law, Marvin Timmons all of Kerkhoven.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Janet Timmons.
