Ruth was born on September 20, 1933, in Priam, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Minnie (Ritz) Ruter.  She grew up in Priam where she attended country school through the 8th grade.  On September 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hauge at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Pennock.  Following their marriage, they farmed near Sunburg until 1979 when they moved off the family farm and into Pennock where they lived until 1988 before moving into Willmar.

She was a member of East Norway Lake Lutheran Church where she had been active with the ALCW, having served as an officer and previously sang in the choir. She loved her church home.

Her family will remember her wonderful homemade bread and baked goods and delicious meals, her hospitality and her heart for people. In her later years, she passed away time by embroidering dish towels and giving them away as gifts.  Everyone (including strangers to her) will remember her, “I need a hug and I love you so much.”  Ruth always like to ‘dress to the nines’, loved jewelry, good perfume and whenever she saw somebody wearing something she liked, she always asked, “Where did you get that—Herbergers? I’d like one like that!” She was a hard-working farm wife and mother, teaching her four children how much Jesus loved them. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life.

Surviving are her children, Beverly (and Dennis) Weflen of Willmar; Hubert (and Lynda) Hauge of Kerkhoven; John (and Carol) Hauge of Sunburg; Barbara (and Douglas) Nelson of Willmar; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Weflen, Emily (and Jim) Jansen, Ryan (and Bridget) Hauge, Joshua (and Amy) Hauge, Matthew (and Sarah) Hauge, Megan (and Peter) Tornquist, David (and Andrea) Weflen, Beth (and Taylor) Hallstrom, Brooke (and Chad) Bacon and Grant Nelson; five great grandchildren, Scarlett and Anders Hauge, Ellie and Logan Jansen and Noah Tornquist.  Also surviving are her siblings, Fannie Mithaugen of Willmar; Tillie (and Myron) Hauge of Willmar; Alice (and Ed) Jaenisch of Willmar; George (and Julie) Ruter of Willmar; Gerald (and Betty) Ruter of Willmar; Tina Harried of Sacred Heart; Louise (and Curtney) Carlson of Pennock and Linda (and Clinton) Kamstra of Willmar; sisters-in-law, Millie Ruter of Willmar and Ruby Douma of Lake Lillian.
