Troy Stulen, 20, of Willmar, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Troy Andrew Stulen was born on May 23, 1992 in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Larry and Marilyn (Tensen) Stulen. Troy grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in the class of 2011. He was baptized on September 6, 1992 and made his profession of faith on November 10, 2002 both at the Willmar Christian Reformed Church. He was active in church with Cadets, youth group and praise team.
During his high school years, Troy was also active with: Fast Forward and On Call, through Youth for Christ, and “2701” Jazz Choir, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Camerata, Fall Musical, National Honor Society, Golf Team, Tennis Team and Knowledge Bowl at Willmar High School.
Troy enjoyed many sports especially football and auto racing including NASCAR. He was very grateful to Make-A-Wish for the opportunity to meet Jeff Gordon at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Troy had a magnetic personality and made friends wherever he went and enjoyed spending time with those friends. One of his favorite experiences with his friends was the high school music department’s trip to Hawaii. Troy’s relationship with God served a very important role in his life. He remained steadfast in his faith even through the trials he endured.
Troy is survived by his parents Larry and Marilyn Stulen; brother, Kyle Stulen all of Willmar, grandparents: Leonard and Opal Stulen of Spicer, Andrew Tensen of Brooten and special friend Samantha (Sami) Stahnke of Spicer. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sylvia Tensen on November 30, 2011.
