Joan Louise Roberts was born on April 24, 1936 in Steuben, Wisconsin, the daughter of Rueben Havens and Garnet (Eskestrand) Corcoran. She grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. She was united in marriage to Arnold Roberts on May 29, 1958. The couple lived in the Willmar Pennock area where Joan worked as a waitress for various restaurants and nursing homes. Three children were blessed to this union.

Joan was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and had been a member of Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.

Joan enjoyed volunteering at KRA Speedway in Willmar, meeting and greeting people. Her hobbies included, sewing and working with computers.

On Sunday, December 27, 2009, Joan passed away at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 73 years. She is survived by her husband Arnold Roberts of Pennock; children: Layne Roberts (Kris Olson), Scott Roberts, and Julie (Ron) Baker all of Willmar; two grandchildren: Jon and Brittany Roberts and two great-grandchildren: Danea and Layven Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.

Joe E. Hentges was born on September 27, 1928, at Arcadia, Wisconsin, the son of John and Frances (Feuling) Hentges. He grew up in the Arcadia area where he attended his schooling.

On August 4, 1951, Joe was united in marriage to Arlene Waterman at Melette, South Dakota. This union was blessed with nine children. They lived and farmed in South Dakota, Lake Lillian, Minnesota, Kandiyohi and Atwater areas.

Joe served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from January 10, 1949 through June 6, 1952.

He was a life member of VFW Post 1639 in Willmar and also had been a member of American Legion Post 537 in New London.

His family recalls his hobbies of gardening and dancing. Joe loved his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. He loved the outdoors and took pride in his work ethic.

Surviving is his wife Arlene; children, Linda Sjoberg of Willmar, Randy (and Sue) Hentges, Kandiyohi, Gary (and Sandi) Hentges, Atwater, Nancy (and Dennis) Wold, Montevideo, Allen (and Deb Martin) Hentges, Raymond, David (and Pauline Ledeboer) Hentges, Kandiyohi, Jolene (and Joe) Carruth, Danvers, Susan (and Ralph) Enderle, Raymond, and James (and Michelle) Hentges, Sauk Centre; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Fran (and Bob) Decker, St. Charles, Marion Guslek, Milwaukee, WI, Ellen (and Cliff) Olson, Ft. Atkinson, WI, Henry (and Vivian) Hentges, St. Charles, Willard (and Vera) Hentges, Yuba City, CA, and Lorraine (Richard) Schultz Utica; sisters-in-law, Sadie Koeing, St Charles and Marion Hentges, Milwaukee, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, infant Walter, Orville and Herbert.

In addition to her parents, Bailee is survived by her grandparents, Russ and Jo Fehl of Willmar and Doty Evenson of Eveleth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandma, Bonnie Evenson.

William Carl Greening was born on December 26, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The first son of Dixie (Bean) and H. Glenn Greening, Bill grew up and attended school in St. Paul. On September 23, 1967, Bill married Susan Kielsa in St. Paul. After finishing carpentry school and working his trade, he was drafted into the Marines. Bill and Sue spent the next two years in California, where Bill was trained and stationed. After being honorably discharged, Bill moved back to St. Paul with Sue, earning his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. He and Sue also had their only son during this time.

Bill worked for Cenex and Health Risk Management (later CBCA) as a facilities manager. After retiring at the age of 59, Bill moved with Sue to Paynesville, where they had a cabin for more than twenty-six years and a year-round home for the past seven. Bill was an active member of Paynesville Lutheran Church, Paynesville Lions Club, and Koronis Hills Golf Club. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and volunteered for a number of charities, including Habitat for Humanity. He was a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

William C. Greening died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at his home in Paynesville. He was 61. Bill is survived by Sue Greening, his wife of 42 years; son Brian (Laura) of Maplewood, MN; brothers David of White Bear Lake, MN, Roger (Jan) of Plano, TX, John (Joy) of Rocky Mount, NC, Scott (Kathy) Taylor of Brooklyn Park, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Olive was born April 14, 1921, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Floyd and Wiel (Lesteberg) Johnson. Olive attended various elementary schools as a child and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1940. She graduated from Teacher’s Training and taught country school from 1941 to 1944.

On December 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elmer Butler in Willmar. During that time Elmer was serving in the Pacific Theatre of WW II, returning nearly two years later.

Elmer and Olive spent many years in Willmar where they raised their three children. She worked for several years as a bookkeeper for White Drug. They moved to Lake Andrew by New London in 1973 and returned to Willmar in May of 1997. Elmer passed away on April 21, 2000.

She was a member of First Covenant Church for over 60 years, where she was actively involved for many years. Olive was always willing and did volunteer in anyway possible. Olive always enjoyed a conversation and could speak to anyone, family, friends or strangers.

She is survived by her three children, DiAnne (and Peter) Rolfzen of St. Cloud; Dennis (and Patty) Butler of Willmar; Jerry (and Laur’ae) Butler of Spicer; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fredolph, Harold, Orall and Freddie; sister, Arline Dunlap; and two grandchildren, Eric and Erin Butler.

Harold was born on May 7, 1921 in Grace Township, Chippewa County, near Montevideo, Minnesota, the son of Earl and Erna (Wollschlager) Eisenlohr. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then farmed with his parents.

On June 1, 1947, Harold was united in marriage to Ethel Strand in Montevideo. They lived on a farm by Montevideo until 1991 when they retired and moved to Willmar. In June, 2005 they moved to Copper Glen in Montevideo and then to Luther Haven in Montevideo on November, 2005 and to Bethesda Pleasantview in Willmar on June, 2009.

He was baptized on the farm when he was two days old and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar.

Harold had a strong work ethic of which he instilled upon his kids. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and especially ice fishing. His family will remember him for his many nicknames that he had for them and his willingness to always help others.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel: children, Diane (and Doug) Anderson of Boyd, Lyle (and Kathleen) Eisenlohr of Pennock, Dorene (and Kenny) Schmitz of Big Bend, Lynn (and Randy) Johnson of Willmar; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Eva Nicolai of Owatonna; Herb (and Janet) Eisenlohr of Clarkfield and Darlene Tolin of Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Derald in 1977; son-in-law, Scott Eschen in 1994 and two brothers, Clyde and Milton.

Albert was born on March 10, 1924, in Bowdle, South Dakota, the son of Dave and Christina (Stoecker) Eisenbeisz. He grew up in Bowdle where he graduated from high school. After high school, Albert was a radio announcer in St. Cloud, MN, Watertown and Aberdeen, South Dakota. While he was in St. Cloud, Albert was responsible for reporting about WW II – Normandy Invasion.

On June 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Victoria Leona Ruter at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Following their marriage, they lived in the Twin Cities and Albert worked for the Veteran’s Administration, was an agent for Lutheran Brotherhood and Aid Association for Lutherans. Albert retired in 1984 after working for the United States Post Office. After Victoria retired from Honeywell in 1988 they moved to Vero Beach, Florida.

Albert enjoyed music, playing the piano, organ and accordion. He was a professional writer, wrote music and was a faithful reader of the Bible, daily.

Surviving are his wife, Victoria; brother, Reinhold Eisenbeisz of Bowdle, SD; sister, Martha Sepp of Bowdle, SD. four nieces and two great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arthur and Albert; sister, Hilda and a nephew in Vietnam.

Marie Louise Carlson was born on January 21, 1937 in Kandiyohi, Minnesota the daughter of Donald and Eleanor (Carlson) Hendrickson. She received her primary education at Ringville Elementary School in Burbank Township and graduated from New London High School in 1955. On May 26, 1956 Marie was united in marriage to Lloyd Carlson Jr. in her home in Hawick. To this union two daughters and a son were born. The family made their home in Reno, NV before moving back to Minnesota where they lived in the Twin Cities area, and Willmar prior to moving to Spicer in 1992. Marie worked as a clerk for the Green Lake Pharmacy in Spicer for 14 years.

Marie attended Peace Lutheran Church in New London. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards, and baking. Most of all Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Marie Louise Carlson died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her home in Spicer, she was 72. Marie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lloyd; children, Callie (Philip) Boncore of Orlando FL, Mike (Belinda) Carlson of St. Francis, MN, and Debra Lauseng of Orlando, FL; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon and Travis Boncore, Justin Lauseng and Arianna Carlson; siblings, Donna (Bud) Nordin of Fridley, MN, Carole Palm of Willmar, MN, Dean (Wendy) Hendrickson of Savage, MN, Dale (Linda) Hendrickson of St. Cloud, MN, Wayne (Tammy) Hendrickson, of New London, MN.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Clarence was born on January 6th, 1929, in rural Dickey County , North Dakota. He died and went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 and is now with his parents, Christoph and Martha (Frigen) Biederstedt, wife, Laura “Joyce” (preceded at age 70, March 4th, 2001), daughter,, Sandra “Sandy” Jo Biederstedt (preceded at age 20, December 15th, 1990), son-in-law, Leonard Pillatzki “Jr.” husband of Sharon (preceded at age 57, April 12th, 2008). Clarence died of complications due to Alzheimer’s disease.

Clarence joined the North Dakota Army National Guard, and participated in two major offensives in the Korean War. His unit was also activated when the Berlin Wall was built. Clarence served 9 years in the Armed Forces, and was given an Honorable Discharge. He was very proud to have served his country, and often made mention of that and his experiences in the Army.

In the fall of 1952, he married Laura Joyce Pyle in Ellendale, North Dakota. The family moved to Belcourt, North Dakota where he worked as a high school business teacher. He completed the Graduate School of Business at the University of North Dakota. In the summer of 1967, the family moved to Willmar, Minnesota where Clarence worked as a business and accounting instructor at the Willmar Area Vocational Technical Institute (now Ridgewater College). He went on to pass the CPA Exam, and also did tax returns for private clients, and corporate accounting audits. Clarence retired in 1995.

In his early years, Clarence enjoyed playing in the Jon Eckerdt Band playing dance and Glenn Miller music. He played clarinet and alto sax. He was also an admirer of the old west and all of its history, and often traveled out West with his wife and sister, Verella Jean “Jeannie” and her husband Chris “Alfie” Hansen. Along with that he collected old west guns and military type guns and military helmets from area gun shows. He was a member of the American Legion Post #167, and life member of the VFW Post #1639 of Willmar.

He and his family attended and were active in the Evangelical Free Church of Willmar, Minnesota since 1981.

Clarence is survived by daughter, Sharon Pillatzki of Northwood, Iowa. Sons Kris Biederstedt of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and John Biederstedt (wife Sally) of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Sister Verella Jean “Jennie” Hansen (husband Chris “Alfie”) of Napoleon, North Dakota. Nephew Kurt Hansen (wife Tonja) of Camp Crook, South Dakota. Niece Kirsten Schadler (husband Darin) of Bismarck, North Dakota. Grandchildren Laura Fritz (husband Keith) of Northwood, Iowa, Cindi Jensen (husband Doug) of Brookings, South Dakota, Tami Hanson (husband Eric) of Northwood, Iowa, Matthew Urban (wife Mandy) of Northwood, Iowa, and Robin Biederstedt of Willmar, Minnesota, and four great grandchildren (Evan Fritz 15, Madison Hanson 10, Ella Fritz 7, and James “Jimmy” Urban 4).

She was a dedicated parent, athlete, and friend who resided in St. Cloud, Moorhead and Detroit Lakes before moving to Willmar where she worked for Rural Development for 23 years, retiring in 2008. Post retirement she worked part-time as a certified life guard at the Kandiyohi YMCA, where she continued to enjoy physical activities. Throughout her life she challenged herself physically, running marathons, and biking cross country. She was an avid tennis, racquet ball and softball player. She also enjoyed traveling to sights as small as the Biggest Ball of Twine in MN to New Zealand and Australia.

She was baptized on September 16, 1951 at the Lidgerwood, ND Methodist Church and was an active member of United Methodist Church in Willmar.

Surviving are her children, Kirk (and Mary) Sutton of Lakeville, MN; Kara Sutton of Minneapolis; Kelli (and James) Miller of Kill Devil Hills, NC; two grandchildren, Thomas and Josh Miller; siblings, Duane (and Win) Webb of Merced, CA; Dale (and Addie) Webb of Manchester, NH; Jack (and Dawn) Webb of Brandon, SD; Jim Webb of Boca Grande, FL and Wanda (and George) Kenney of Venice, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother.

Berndina was born August 10, 1915, in Roseland Twp., Kandiyohi Co., MN, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Dragt) Bruggers. She grew up in Roseland, where she attended her schooling. She was a member of Roseland Reformed Church. On November 18, 1936, Berndina was united in marriage to Joe Sankey. Following their marriage, they lived in Roseland, where she worked as a custodian at Roseland Reformed Church. While being the custodian, with her children usually tagging along, Berndina often played the organ and piano for them when she was done cleaning. Joe preceded her in death on November 25, 1956. On December 8, 1967, she was united in marriage to Stanford Norling. Following their marriage, they lived in Willmar, where she worked for several years at the Christian Rest Home. After moving to Willmar, Berndina became a member of First Covenant Church. Stanford preceded her in death on August 31, 1995.

Berndina enjoyed hand work, especially sewing, crocheting and embroidery.

Surviving are her children, Marilyn (and Albert) Van Buren of Willmar, LeRoy (and Sandy) Sankey of Tucson, AZ, Sharon Norling (and Jim Holten) of Santa Rosa Valley, CA, Vernon “Lefty” (and Ruth) Norling of Kandiyohi, Donald (and Ione) Norling of Willmar; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving is her sister, Evelyn (and Herschel) Damhof of Willmar; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Gertrude Dykema, Annetta Knoll, Minnie Bonnema and Cornelia Bruggers; two brothers, Jack Bruggers and Marvin Bruggers; granddaughter, Mary Van Buren Carlson; and great granddaughter, Jenna Van Buren.

Lily Aarilyn Eaton was born on December 17, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is survived by her parents, Jeremy Eaton and Aleshia Camp of Benson; grandparents, Jeff and Ann Camp of Kerkhoven, and R.L. and Velina Eaton of Hamilton, MO; aunts, Kayla, Whitney and Marlys (and Manuel); uncle Matthew; great grandparents, Maxine Camp of Kerkhoven, Don and Theresa Syverson of Kerkhoven, Evelyn Redman of Altamont, MO, Robert Eaton of St. Joseph, MO, and Evelina VanFossen of Braymer, MO. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Clinton A. Eaton; great grandfather, Robert Camp

Gordon A. Knudsen was born on March 2, 1928, in Green Lake Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the son of Alfred Melcior and Anna (Steffensen) Knudsen. He grew up in the Green Lake Township area and attended Diamond Lake Dist. #27 and graduated from Atwater High School in 1946.

On November 25, 1950, Gordon was united in marriage to Marilyn Kragenbring at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Atwater. This union was blessed with five children. They farmed in Green Lake Township.

Gordon was baptized and confirmed at Green Lake Lutheran Church where he was a member at the time of his death. He served his church as an usher and on the church board.

He served on the Green Lake Township Board for 15 years, served on Dist # 27 School Board, was a member of the Green Lake-Harrison Farmers Union, served on the Kandiyohi Creamery Board, was on the Kandiyohi Electric Co-op board for 21 years and was a Pioneer Seed Corn salesman for 24 years.

His family recalls how Gordon enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in his younger years. He loved to fish and he and Marilyn enjoyed traveling over the years. Gordon looked forward to the family reunions and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their family and friends. Most of all Gordon was a hardworking Honest individual.

Surviving is his wife, Marilyn; children, Marlene Vossen, of Kandiyohi, Gary (and Laurie) Knudsen of Spicer, Daryl (and Beverly) Knudsen of Kandiyohi; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sibilings, Erma Miller of Atwater, Thoretta (and Gus) Hoffer of Kandiyohi and Romona Perron, Wiconia; sisters-in-law, Virginia Knudsen, Norma Knudsen and Francis Knudsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, daughter Charyl Kay in 1961, three brothers, Eugene, Kinsley and Harlan.

Donald Boyd Wilke was born on April 20, 1930 at home in Grace Township in Chippewa County, the son of Boyd and Gladys (Bosch) Wilke. He grew up in rural Benson and attended country school and Morris Ag School. He entered the United States Army in September of 1948 where served his country. He received an Honorable Discharge in June of 1952.

Don was united in marriage to Marlene Schoen on July 17, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. The couple lived in Starbuck and in 1960 moved to Alaska. They returned to rural Murdock in 1967 where they farmed and raised their family. Don farmed for 42 years and retired in 1996, he then worked for Bob and Steve Collins for several years.

Don was baptized on July 1, 1930 and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Murdock. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock where he served on the Parish Council.

Don was a member of 4-H as a leader, a snowmobile club and the Flying Farmers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends at their cabin. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald died on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Marlene Wilke of Murdock; children: Robert (Diane) Wilke of Baraboo, WI, James Wilke of Murdock, and Kim Braaten of Sunburg; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Wanda (Arlo) Gilbertson of Litchfield, Craig (Cheryl) Wilke of Park Rapids, Margaret (John) Williams if Excelsior, Georgia (Dennis) Doering of Kerkhoven.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, and a sister.

Evaline Bertha Oeltjenbruns was born on April 11, 1933 in Mt. Lake, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Bartz) Ott. She was baptized in Mt. Lake and confirmed on March 21, 1948 at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. She grew up in Mt. Lake where she attended Mt. Lake High School, graduating in 1951.

On August 26, 1951, Evaline was united in marriage to Leroy Oeltjenbruns in Comfrey. Following their marriage they farmed near Mountain Lake and Springfield. In 1958 they moved to the New London and Belgrade area, where they continued to farm. Evaline and Leroy were able to share in 53 years of marriage before his death on October 21, 2004.

Evaline was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of GLCW and Do-day quilting. She also sewed the names on the quilts given to the high school seniors and volunteered at GlenOaks Care Center. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, sewing for her families and many events through the years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and her priorities always centered on her family and faith.

Evaline died on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the GlenOaks Care Center in New London at the age of 76 . She is survived by her sons, Roger (Sharon) of Belgrade, Gerhard (Roxanne) of Belgrade, David (Julie) of New London; daughters, Beverly (Jim) Woods of Atwater, Sherry (Ron) Keller of Belgrade, Bonnie (Leif) Carlson of Murdock; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Arnold) Oeltjenbruns and brother, Carl Ott Jr, both of Mt. Lake.

Evaline was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; son, Larry (1979); son-in-law, Rick Jones (1985); granddaughter, Angie (1993) and parents.

He was born on November 25, 1951, in Willmar, Minnesota the son of D. Roger and Wilma (Tesch) Lief. He attended Washington Elementary and graduated from Willmar High School in 1970.

Rodney worked as a Custom Framer for Ben Franklin and did Woodworking for the past 30 years.

He was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was a life time member.

His family recalls his hobbies of fishing and watching movies, but most of all his gift as a woodworker.

Surviving is his mother, Wilma, of Willmar; sibilings, Gerald ( and Pat) Lief, Willmar, David (and Sandra) Lief, Mason City, IA, Carol (and Roger) Olson, Gettysburg, SD, and Thomas (and Jackie) Lief, Federal Way, WA. Also surviving are eight nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father on September 8, 2009.

Donald James Moren Sr. was born on December 26, 1926, at St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of John and Laura (Maute) Moren. He grew up in St. Paul where he attended his schooling.

On December 11, 1946, Don was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Pliseke at St. Paul, Minnesota. This union was blessed with six children. Don worked for Gross-Given Manufacturing as a heavy machine punch operator, retiring as a foreman in 1987, after 40 years of employment. Following his retirement the continued to live in St. Paul until 1989, when they moved to Palisades, Minnesota and later moving to Park Rapids. Dee preceded him in death on December 30, 2004. In 2008 Don moved to Kandiyohi where he living at the time of his death.

Don’s family recalls his love for country music, watching football, fishing and going to the cabin to be outdoors. He was handy when it came to making repairs and doing any remodeling. Don and Dee looked forward to taking their family out fishing on the Bass Tracker and sharing a favorite family meal of barbecue chicken and baked potatoes. Christmas was Don’s favorite time of the year and this year the family was thankful to their sister Kathy who helped decorate his home for the holiday. He will be missed by all.

Surviving are his children, Donald J. Jr. (Janice) Moren, Becker, Sharon Moren, Deering, ND, Thomas J, Moren, St.Paul, Kathleen (Lyle) Eisenlohr, Pennock, Richard( Alice) Moren, Park Rapids, Edward ( Lisa) Moren, Menahga; 16 grand and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dee, 3 brothers, 2 sisters.

Alice Elaine Stebbins was born on November 25, 1919 in Willmar, the daughter of Arthur and Theadora (Hanson) Nelson. She grew up in the Willmar area and graduated from Willmar High School. On January 28, 1939, Alice was united in marriage to Lavern Leroy Stebbins in Milbank, SD. To this union one son and four daughters were born. They farmed near Senaca, SD until moving to a farm near Belgrade in 1954. In 1964, they moved to Paynesville, where Alice cooked at Franks Café for many years. Her pies were remembered by many, long after she retired. Alice and Lavern were able to share in 53 years of marriage before his death in 1992.

Alice enjoyed making big holiday meals for her family and loved when all her children and grandchildren could all be together. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for her grandchildren, canning, gardening and watching the Twins, especially her favorite, Kirby Pucket.

Alice died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Belgrade Nursing Home at the age of 90 after a short illness. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Nancy) Stebbins of Spicer, Joann Ellefson of Viroqua, WI and Lois Stebbins of Paynesville; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern; daughters, Merna and Deloris; son-in-law, Rev. Elmer Ellefson; brother, Dennis and sister, Frances.

Iva Dell Gene Reimann was born on April 26, 1932 on the family farm near Sunburg, the daughter of Gilbert and Ida (Johnson) Hagen. She grew up in New London and attended New London High School, graduating in 1951. After her schooling she worked at New London State Bank for eight years. On March 7, 1959, Iva was united in marriage to Gerald Reimann in Elrosa. To this union, one son and two daughters were born. They made their home and farmed south of Elrosa. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests but her focus and center was always her family and the time they spent together.

Iva died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Belgrade Nursing Home at the age of 77. She is survived by husband, Gerald Reimann of Belgrade; children, Terry Reimann, Nancy (Dave) Bertram, Susan (Dave) Meyer all of Belgrade; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Olive (DeWayne) Olson of New London, twin sister, Ida Plumhoff of Belgrade and Jerry (Bev) Hoff of Eagan.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Inez Batterberry and two brothers-in-law, Ken Batterberry and Clarence Plumhoff.

Robert Victor Distad was born on August 3, 1931 on the family farm near Astoria, South Dakota, the son of Roosevelt and Erma (Menace) Distad. He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Astoria, and later confirmed into the Christian Faith at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Astoria. Bob graduated from Astoria High School with the class of 1949. After high school he moved to St. Louis, MO to attend diesel mechanic school. On June 30, 1951 Bob was united in marriage to Marlene A. Gilbertson, on the Henry and Iola Gilbrertson Farm near Hendricks, MN. To this union two daughters and one son were born. The family made their home in New London where Bob worked as a Diesel Mechanic Instructor at Willmar Vocational and Technical College for 23 years.

Bob was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in New London. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing dice. Bob was an avid snowmobiler, hunter, and a Vikings football fan.

Robert V. Distad died on Tuesday, December 15, 2008, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, he was 77. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene; children, Arlys (Kent) Williams of Andover, Victor (Jolene) of St. Paul Park, and Michelle Holm of Cookerville, TN; 7 grandchildren, Lance, Shawn, Julie, Joshua, Jordan, Benjamin, and Colton; 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Eva. He is also survived by his brother, Richard of Brookings, SD; sisters, Margene (Sandy) Rymerson of Toronto, SD, Eileen Johnson of Brookings, SD; aunt, Delores Hoseck, many nephew, nieces, and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Arnold Marvin Johnson was born on October 24, 1918, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the son of Carl Andrew and Theolina (Reigstad) Johnson. He grew up in Arctander and Mamre Townships where he attended Dist School for his education.

On June 12, 1946, Arnold was united in marriage to Agnes Loge, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. This union was blessed with two daughters. Follow their marriage they farmed in Mamre Township and Arnold retired in 1983, but continued to help his son-in-law on the farm. Agnes preceded him in death in November 1997.

Surviving are his daughters, Judy Grant of Gallatin, TN, and Loretta (and David) Carlson of Willmar; two grandchildren, Michelle (and Brian) Christian and Ryan Carlson. Also surviving are his siblings, Curtis Johnson of Sunburg, Lorraine Larson of Willmar, two sisters-in-law, Roselie Johnson of Willmar and Genie Johnson of Lakewood, CA and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Agnes, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brother and two sisters.

Lucille Ann was born on June 23, 1928, in Willmar, MN, the daughter of John and Mary (Schmitz) Sames. She grew up in Willmar and attended Willmar Public Schools, graduating in 1946. She worked for her father assisting him at the West Central Tribune before moving with the family to Minneapolis in 1954. She worked as a secretary for Prudential while living in Minneapolis.

On June 30, 1956, she was united in marriage to Thomas Schlagel and moved to Murdock. LuAnn worked as a paraprofessional for the KMS School District from 1970 until retiring in 2007. Students and faculty will remember her most for the many years she worked in the elementary school’s library. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Her family remembers her love of reading, gardening, card games, word puzzles, and sewing. She also enjoyed music and playing the piano.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years; children: Matthew (and Michelle) Schlagel of Kerkhoven, Mary (and Tony) La Patka of Willmar; Laura Schlagel of Willmar, and John (and Sandra) Schlagel of Willmar; and grandchildren, Sarah Schlagel, Nathan Schlagel, Bryan Schlagel, Thomas La Patka, and Catherine La Patka. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Maurice Armstrong of Minneapolis.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Monica Armstrong and brother, Joseph Sames.

Phyllis Jeanette Imsdahl was born on March 6, 1924, in Raymond, MN, the daughter of Hans and Daisy (Isaacson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Phyllis attended Sunnyside Country School in rural Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School. After high school she went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in teaching from St. Cloud State University.

On July 26, 1947, Phyllis was united in marriage to Orville Imsdahl at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. This union was blessed with two daughters. The family made their home in Brooten. Phyllis worked as a teacher for many country schools over the years before working for Brooten Elementary School. She retired in 1985 after 35 years of teaching. On July 22, 2006, Orville passed away, they shared in 59 years of marriage. In January of 2007, Phyllis moved to the Glenwood Retirement Home.

Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. She was very active in the WELCA, holding all the offices with them at some time. She taught Sunday School before becoming the Sunday School Superintendent. She also helped the quilters stitch many quilts. Trinity Lutheran Church was a big part of her life.

Phyllis enjoyed playing Scrabble, she was very competitive and a considered a Scrabble champion. Phyllis loved the Twins, bowling, and trying new recipes in the kitchen. Her children will remember all the fun times they had at their cabin on Games Lake.

Phyllis J. Imsdahl died on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood she was 85. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bill) Zins, of Lincoln, NE, and Gayle (Mike) Grothem of Burnsville, MN; 5 grandchildren, Andrea (Jarrod) Parde, Allison (Jon) Lee, Amanda (Greg) Heimes, Dawn (Ryan) Doheny, and Andrew Grothem; 5 great grandchildren, Aanika Doheny, Mercer Lee, Ashton Lee, Kendal Heimes, and Dalton Parde. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Marvin Imsdahl of New London; sisters-in-law, Fran Imsdahl of Richfield, and Eileen Kalkoske of Bishop, CA; special friend of the family, Bev Schaefer of New London; cousin, Ron Johnson of Raymond; nephews and nieces.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother.

Dr. John W. Docksey was born October 16, 1922, in Jackson Michigan, the son of Ralph and Ethel (Eldred) Docksey, and the younger brother of Elizabeth Jean Docksey. He died in Billings, Montana on December 12, 2009, with his daughter, Anne Newell, sitting at his bedside. While at student at Michigan State College of Agriculture and Applied Science, John Docksey participated in Army ROTC. Heeding the call of his country, John left Michigan State in March, 1943, to enlist in the Navy. Cognizant of his keen mind and determined spirit, the Navy enrolled John in Midshipmen’s School, and sent him to Dartmouth and Northwestern University to continue his education. Upon graduation from Midshipmen’s School, the Navy assigned Ensign Docksey to the Pacific theater, where he served aboard the Cruiser Minelayer USS Weehawken through the end of World War II and until October 9, 1945, when the USS Weehawken sank in a typhoon off Okinawa. Upon his return to the United States, Ensign Docksey was promoted to Lieutenant (J.G.) and assigned to Naval Station Great Lakes until his discharge from the Navy in September, 1946.

John Docksey enrolled in Medical School at Marquette University in the fall of 1946. Based on classes completed at Marquette, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan State in August, 1947, and a Medicinae Doctoris (Medical Doctor) Degree from Marquette University in June, 1950. While a student at Marquette, he was a member of the medical fraternity Alpha Kappa Kappa; upon graduation he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, an honor society for top medical school graduates. Re-commissioned in the Navy, Dr. (Lieutenant J.G) Docksey completed his Internship in Medicine and Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Philadelphia in June, 1951, and he completed his Residency in General Surgery at the Veteran’s Hospital in Milwaukee in July, 1955. Doctor Docksey was Board Certified in Surgery, and licensed to practice Medicine and Surgery in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota.

Dr. Docksey joined the Willmar Clinic in 1956 and practiced medicine and surgery until his retirement in 1989. During his 33-year tenure, the 7-physician Willmar Clinic grew into a 130-physician regional medical center. While Rice Memorial was his home hospital, Dr. Docksey performed surgery in hospitals around west-central Minnesota and into eastern South Dakota, often traveling in his single-engine airplane. Throughout his medical career, he cared deeply for his patients and their families. Late dinners were invariably followed by a trip to the hospital to check on patients and to comfort their families; evenings and weekends were frequently punctuated by house calls on patients who didn’t want to wait until the next day to see Dr. Docksey. Twenty years following his retirement, former patients would stop him on the street to thank him for life-saving surgery. Remarkably, he never seemed to forget a patient or a surgical procedure.

John Docksey married the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Skinner, in Wausau, Wisconsin on June 17, 1950. John and Marilyn celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2007, shortly before Marilyn’s death on October 29th of that year. A devoted husband, John never overcame the loss of Marilyn. In the week preceding his death, John reported that Marilyn was tapping on his shoulder, telling him that it was time for him to follow her.

John and Marilyn were blessed with eight children and nineteen grandchildren. With his wife, John instilled in his children love of country, a thirst for knowledge, compassion for others, and a firm belief in the merits of hard work and individual responsibility. John was proud of the fact that all eight of his children graduated from college and, with his wife, established a trust to assist with the education of their grandchildren. Upon Marilyn’s death, he established a scholarship in her name at Ridgewater College.

On December 12, 2009, John Docksey took leave of this world to join Marilyn in the next. Preceded in death by Marilyn, his parents “Gramps” and “Dee,” his sister “Betty,” and his granddaughter Anne Mullaney, John is survived by eight children, eighteen grandchildren, and countless friends, colleagues and patients who know that the world is a sadder place without his wisdom, wit, and compassion. His family takes comfort in the fact that John is once again dancing with Marilyn, and in the knowledge that heaven can only be a better place with Dr. Docksey available to make house calls.

He is survived by his children, J. Ross (and Chris) Docksey of Long Grove, IL; Susan (and Don) Gunnin of Breckenridge, CO; Anne (and Jay) Newell of Roundup, MT; Laura (and Tom) Downey of Anchorage, AK; Tom and (and Karen) Docksey of Owatonna, MN; Jim (and Jan) Docksey of Chippewa Falls, WI; Sara (and Paul) Mullaney of Chanhassen, MN; and Andrew (and Cyndi) Docksey of Milwaukee, WI.

Mildred C. Carlson was born November 26, 1914 to John and Algine (Hough) Henjum in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County. She attended elementary school in Dist. 54, and graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1931 and had teachers' training at Willmar Normal School and later at St. Cloud Teachers College.

She taught in rural schools of Kandiyohi, Swift and Chippewa Counties and in the Kerkhoven School District, retiring in 1977.

On June 21, 1941 she married Donald Carlson of rural Pennock. They lived on his home farm north of Pennock until moving to Kerkhoven in 1952. For many years after retirement, they spent their winters in Edinburg, Texas. She lived for 5 years at Sunrise Village and 2 years at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

As a member of Salem Covenant Church, she served on various boards including Christian Education, Covenant Women, and Salem Seniors. She was a former member of the Kerkhoven Study Club and the Kerkhoven Senior Citizens.

She is survived by three children, Lois and (John) Rockvam of St. Michael MN, Wayne and (Pam) Carlson of Stillwater, MN, and Kent and (Mary Beth) Carlson of Eden Prairie MN, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, her daughter, Nancy Ann; her parents, brother, Gordon Henjum; sister, Inez Henjum and nephew, Gaylord Henjum.

Rita Theresa was born on January 14, 1921, in Alberta, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph and Catherine (Ritter) Helsper. She attended Alberta Public Schools where she graduated. She continued her education at Beauty School in Minneapolis.

On November 5, 1942, she was united in marriage to Vernon Fuecker in Morris, MN. Upon his discharge from the Army, they spent many years in Morris before moving to Willmar in 1966. Vernon ran and operated the golf courses in both Morris and Willmar until his death in 1967. Rita worked actively along side Vernon until his death and then resumed her beautician career as well as working in bookkeeping for Thrifty-Snyder Drug Stores for many years until she retired.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, DOES and the Church of St. Mary where she belonged to Daughter’s of Isabella.

Surviving are her children, Kay Fuecker of Hager City, WI; Sue (and Jim) Schull of Mapleton, MN; Rosanne Miske of Elk River, MN; Mary (and Bruce) Lundberg of Ham Lake, MN; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Joe (and Shirley) Helsper of Phoenix, AZ and sister-in-law, Doris Helsper of Willmar.

Besides Vernon, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter in infancy; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sherida Fuecker; sisters, Carolyn Jorgensen and Louise Anderson and brother, Urban Helsper.

Hugh was born on January 23, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Oswald Herman and Ruth Katherine (Hainer) Krause. He grew up in Jackson, Minnesota where he graduated from Jackson High School in the class of 1952. He received a BA and BS degree from Mankato State. He became a probation officer for Kandiyohi County and also taught a Juvenile Justice class for Ridgewater College in Willmar.

Hugh was a member of the American Modelers Association. He enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes.

Hugh is survived by his son Steve (Rhonda) Krause of New London; grandson Steve Krause of Denver, CO; two sisters: Sue (George) Patterson of Castro Valley, CA and Gretchen (Chuck) Melody of Brooklyn Park, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Norma Alma Ruud was born on April 28, 1921 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , the daughter of Paul and Frieda (Tieman) Hoyer. She attended Lutheran Parochial School in Breckinridge , Oklahoma and high school in Okarche , Oklahoma . She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Enid, Oklahoma After graduation Norma served for four years in the US Army Nurse Corp Asiatic Pacific Theatre, receiving two Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. She received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. Norma continued her education at the University of Minnesota for Public Health Nursing, Long Term Health Care Administrator, and School of Cosmetology . She operated a Beauty Salon in Minneapolis while earning her graduate degrees.

Norma was united in marriage to Royce G. Ruud on March 5, 1950. The couple resided in Lake Lillian where Norma owned and operated a Beauty Salon. She began working at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar and later was Administrator for the Willmar Nursing Home and Kindlehope.

Norma was active in several civic organizations including: Minnesota Nurses Association as Vice Chairman of Geriatric Division; American College of Nursing Home Administrators, and the Association for Retarded Citizens. She was a member of Willmar V.F.W. and the Willmar American Legion.

Norma was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian and has been an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar since 1964.

Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, cooking and church activities. Norma touched many lives through her Professional and personal life.

Norma died on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her husband Royce Ruud of Willmar; children: Randall Ruud of Bow, WA; Betty (Gary) Hedrick of Mercer Island, WA, Becky (Darvin) Hauptli of Willmar; five grandchildren: Erin Hauptli, Derek (Kristin) Hauptli all of Willmar; Alisha Ruud of St. Paul, Hannah Hedrick and Benjiman Hedrick both of Mercer Island, WA; and great-grandson Conner Hauptli. Norma is also survived by her sister Ann Rispoli of Tempe , AZ ; sister-in-law Margaret Ruud of Lake Lillian ; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jerry on August 21st, 2009 and brother Harry Hoyer.

Adele Agnes Charlotte Broberg was born on January 10, 1929 in Claghorn, IA, the daughter of Gust and Emma Esterland. The family moved south of Kandiyohi where they farmed. Adele graduated from Willmar in the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Lowell Broberg on September 3, 1949. The couple lived and farmed in rural Kerkhoven. Adele worked as a proof reader for the West Central Tribune and later worked on the farm with Lowell where she raised chickens and had an egg business. She also worked as a secretary for Hayes Insurance Co. in Kerkhoven.

She was baptized in Iowa and later confirmed in Willmar. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church in rural Pennock where she was active with the Christian Women, K.I.P. study club and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and taking care of Lowell. Her family remembers her as a gentle, kind person that was always smiling.

She is survived by her husband Lowell of rural Kerkhoven; son Scott Broberg of Altoona, PA; daughter Kandice (Rick) Schrader of Clanton, AL; son-in-law Scott Vadman of Champlan, MN; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Javon; and brothers: Ray and Allen.

Elaine Clair Larson was born on August 8, 1927 in Belgrade, the daughter of Lewis and Laila (Lohn) Larson. She grew up on the family farm south of Belgrade and attended country grade school. She worked various jobs in the area until moving to Morris in 1949 and working for the University of Minnesota as a kitchen aid. She returned to the area in her retirement in 1987 and became a resident of Glen Oaks in 2006.

She was a member of Crow River Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed music, playing the accordion, cards and listening to the local basketball teams on the radio. She was also active in the New London Senior Citizens.

Elaine died on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at GlenOaks Care Center in New London at the age of 82. She is survived by her brothers, Norman Larson of Belgrade and LaVerne A. Larson of Hawick; sister-in-law, Maurine Larson of Belgrade and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David and Burton.

Diane Rayne LeDuc was born on March 22, 1948 in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Lewis and Hilda (Brouwer) DeGroot. She grew up in Renville and graduated from Bird Island High School in the class of 1966. Diane moved to Willmar where she lived in various group homes. She was united in marriage to Calvin LeDuc on December 6, 1985. The couple continued to live in Willmar. Calvin died on May 9, 2005. Diane then entered the Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.

Diane was baptized at Emden Christian Reformed Church in Renville on April 11, 1948. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Willmar where she helped with assembling the bulletins and news letters.

Diane was and avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed watching WWF professional wrestling. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and going for coffee. She also enjoyed attending bible studies at the nursing home.

Diane is survived by her mother Hilda DeGroot of Willmar; sister Marcella (and Ron) Hedman of Willmar; nephew Greg (and Jane) Hedman of Spicer; nieces: Amy Hedman of Lake Crystal, and Gayle (and Rick) Bartlett of Cave Creek, AZ; three great-nephews; and a great-niece.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and brother, Clifford.

Joy Caroline Anderson was born on December 21, 1933 in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Don and Ruth (Swanson) Shogren. She grew up in Des Moines, IA and moved with her family to several areas where her father served as a minister. She graduated from high school in Winnipeg, Canada and attended college at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. Joy was united in marriage to Bailey Anderson in Davenport, IA in 1955. The couple served in churches throughout the Midwest, Florida and Utah. She was a preschool teacher while living in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Willmar in 1995 and Joy and Bailey served at the Evangelical Free Church in Willmar where she was a member. Joy was active with the church choir, taught Sunday school throughout the years and worked as a caregiver for Mothers of Preschoolers.

Joy was an avid reader and above all enjoyed studying God’s Word. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her family cherished the time they could spend with her as she courageously battled Alzheimer's disease.

Joy went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her husband, Pastor Bailey Anderson; daughters: Lois Anderson; and Lynn (and Dan) Fuglestad; three grandchildren: Matthew, Anna and Benjamin Fuglestad all of Willmar; sisters: Vange Barnes of Marysville, WA, Faith Magnuson of Edina, MN and sister-in-law Jeanette van Heerden of Acton, MA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers-in-law.

Doris was born on September 12, 1924, at her parent’s home, in Willmar, MN, the daughter of William and Anna (Olson) Danielson. She grew up in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1942.

On July 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ardell Loven at First Covenant Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Willmar and Doris worked as an adolescent counselor at the Willmar State Hospital, retiring after 22 years. While working there, she was known as Grandma Doris.

She was an active member of First Covenant Church having served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher and she and Ardell were always involved in other youth activities.

Doris enjoyed sewing, even having a little side business, working for designers in Willmar as well as crafting. All the time and love she gave to her family will be their most cherished memory.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Ardell; daughters, Susan (and Frank) Almendarez of Stockton, CA; Sandra (and Lyle) Heinitz of Whitewater, WI; brother, Edmund (and Norma) Danielson of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Heinitz, April Almendarez, Jon (and Christie) Almendarez and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Kailie. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Albin (and Lily) Skogstad of Kerkhoven and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Danielson and JoAnn Danielson both of Willmar and Dixie Danielson of Spring, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca on September 8, 2006; brothers, Don, Ken and John Danielson and her sister, Mildred Skogstad.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church or the New London-Spicer Food Shelf.

Lovey Ann Amundson was born on April 7, 1939 in Benson, the daughter of Garfield and Louise (Erdman) Landmark. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. She grew up in Benson and attended country grade school and Benson High School, graduating in 1957. On May 10, 1958, Lovey was united in marriage to Roger Amundson at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. They made their home in the New London area where she raised her family and worked a variety of jobs in the area. They divorced in 1983. She retired from Herberger’s in 1998 after 18 years of service.

Lovey was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was active in church groups and civic activities over the years until her health started to decline. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, being outside, going for drives, dancing, singing and music, especially Neil Diamond. Her favorite past-time was spending time with family and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Lovey died on Friday, November 27, 2009 at St. Cloud Hospital at age 70, after a battle with cancer. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brad (Darla) Amundson of Cypress, TX, Angie (Gregg) LeBlanc of Little Falls, Clayton Amundson (Sandy Viessman) of Willmar, Dana Amundson (Tim Kriebel) of Salida, CO, and Erick (Kathy) Amundson of New London; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Lovey was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Landmark and special friend, Myron Torkelson.

Robert “Bob” Stanley Pederson was born on July 13, 1943 in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Oscar and Esther (Ness) Pederson. He grew up in Willmar and attended Eagle Lake country school and Willmar High School. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country stationed in Munich, Germany. Bob received an Honorable Discharge in July of 1962. He returned to Willmar where he began working in construction as a mason with Pederson Construction Company and later worked for various contractors. He was united in marriage to Janet Peterson on October 2, 1965 in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Willmar. On May, 19, 1995 Bob was united in marriage to Naomi Eliason at Lake Koronis Bible Camp. The couple continued to live in Willmar. Bob retired in 2003.

He was baptized and confirmed at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church in rural Willmar. Bob was a member of the Willmar American Legion Post # 167 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 2334.

Bob enjoyed hunting; pheasants, duck and deer and also fishing and ice fishing. His family remembers is kindheartedness, understanding, and willing to help others.

Bob is survived by his wife Naomi of Willmar; sons: Douglas (and Melainie) Pederson of Sartell, Ryan Pederson of Willmar; step-sons: Scott Leffler of Avon, CO, Joe (and Carrie) Leffler of Fredricksburg, VA, Mike (Hilleri) Leffler of Edwards, CO; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; siblings: Orla Lawler of Reno, NV, Virgil (Ione) Pederson Willmar, Gaylord (Margaret) Pederson of Willmar, Marsha (Paul) Bueide of Scottsbluff, NE; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Scott in 1990; three brothers; and four sisters.

Audrey Charlet Torgerson was born on Nov 7, 1919 on the family farm in Colfax Township, the daughter of T. Olaf and Martha (Jacobson) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Crow River Lutheran Church. She attended country grade school and Belgrade High School, graduating in 1937. On Nov 12, 1939, Audrey was united in marriage to Ervin Torgerson at Crow River Lutheran Church. To this union three sons were born. They made their home south of Belgrade where they farmed until 1964 when they moved into Belgrade. Audrey worked as a bookkeeper at the Coop and as a teller for North American State Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Audrey and Ervin were able to share in 49 years of marriage before his death on Dec 3, 1988.

Audrey was a life long member of Crow River Lutheran Church where she was very active in WELCA. She enjoyed her flower garden, embroidery, baking and cooking for her family and friends. She was also active in Toots and Tappers, and the Belgrade Senior Citizens, helping organize many bus trips through the years.

Audrey died on Saturday, Nov 28, 2009 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Sauk Centre at age 90. She is survived by sons, Wayne (Linda) Torgerson of Jackson, Jerry (Cindy) Torgerson of Belgrade and Douglas Torgerson of Grove City; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and sisters, Doris (Marvin) Grothem of Belgrade and Evelyn (Walter) Gibson of Mission, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents and two brothers.

Larry Eugene Hanson was born on April 18, 1937 in Spicer, Minnesota the son of Lester and Alice (Sorenson) Hanson. He grew up in rural Spicer and attended New London Elementary and High School. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country in the Korean Conflict. On October 24, 1959 he was united in marriage to Joyce Schreffler at Hawick Methodist Church. This union was blessed with two girls and two boys. The family made their home in the Spicer area. Larry and Joyce were later divorced. On February 21, 1992 Larry was united in marriage to Debra Fredeen in Reno, NV. They made their home in rural Spicer.

Larry was a boilermaker after he returned from the Army. He worked for Steel Tanks, Research Cottrell, and Midwest Precipitator. After 30 years Larry retired in 1991. he then became the Gambling manager for the Spicer American Legion Henderson Lewis Post #545. He retired from the American Legion in 2002.

Larry was a member of the Spicer American Legion, Willmar VFW Post #1639, Boilermaker’s Union, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Shriners. During Larry’s free time he enjoyed watching sports on TV, deer hunting, and playing pool.

Larry E. Hanson died on Friday, November 27, 2009 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Debra; children, Dori (Brian) Blaha of Centerville, UT, Larry E. Hanson Jr. of Willmar, and Ricky W. Hanson, of Willmar; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Clinton) Hinseth of Sunburg; brother, Don (Judy) Hanson of Rogers; sister-in-law, Elaine Hanson of New London.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lori Hegstrom, granddaughter Jenna Hegstrom; and a brother, Robert.

Gilbert Charles Tritabaugh was born on February 13, 1924, in Fairhaven the son of Jacob and Ruth (Schoeppler) Tritabaugh. He grew up in Fairhaven and attended school there. On May 11, 1946, Gilbert was united in marriage to Lois Shultz in South Haven. To this union two daughters were born. In 1946 the family moved to Paynesville. Gilbert drove a gas truck, working for North Central Public Inc. for the majority of his career. In his later years he also drove for Cenex. Gilbert enjoyed all the years he drove truck. He made many friends and acquaintances among his customers.

Gilbert was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also involved in various organizations in Paynesville including: the Paynesville Lions Club, Paynesville Historical Society, and the development of the Senior Center.

Gilbert C. Tritabaugh died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Koronis Manor in Paynesville, he was 85. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois of Paynesville; daughters, Diane Halstead of Oak Grove, Doris (Larry) Langford of Ruidoso, NM; Grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Sjogren and family of Amery, WI, and Heidi (Rick) Randa and family of Blaine; sisters, Marie Rutherford of Waite Park, Roberta (Bernard) Hinz of fair Haven Janette (Alfred) Hentges of St. Michael; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Adeline Filbert; and twin brother, Hilburn.

Esther was born on September 20, 1921, near Raymond, MN, the daughter of Claus and Kate (Walters) Wiegmann. She attended country school thru the eighth grade. She worked on her parent’s farm prior to her marriage to Milton Gieseke on September 14, 1948. They lived in Willmar before moving to the home they built on Green Lake in 1979. Esther worked for Willmar Cookie Company for 26 years, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Willmar for over 60 years, and over the years taught Sunday school, worked at bazaars and served at funerals.

She loved working in her garden, growing vegetables and flowers, taking bus trips all over the United States, Canada and Australia and having tea with her friends and relatives. Her favorite pastime though was being a proud grandma and great grandma.

Surviving are her daughter, Lynae (and Don Dickerson) Gieseke of Eagan; daughter-in-law, Nyla Gieseke of Kandiyohi; two grandchildren, Gretchen (and Rob) Baumgarn of Willmar and Peter Gieseke of St. Cloud; two great grandchildren, Drew and Tate Baumgarn; and her siblings, Gladys Freese of Tacoma, WA; Bernice Haats of Willmar; Betty (and Marlin) Kroona of Spicer; Henry (and Lucille) Wiegmann of Cody, WY; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Esther was preceded in death be her parents, husband, Milton in 1993; son, Larry in 2008; brothers, Ben, Clarence, Dick and one in infancy and her sisters, Hazel Sweep, Cora McLane and one in infancy.

Dale Maxwell Lundquist, was born on August 10, 1954, at Chateauroux, France, the son of Wendell Monroe and Josiane Marie (Verdebout) Lundquist. His father had a career in the military and Dale attended elementary school at Ellsworth Air Base, Rapid City, SD and graduated from high school at Rudyard, MI. Dale was self- employed, selling a variety of products over the internet.

Dale was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from March 5, 1976 through January 5, 1979 working as a Fuel Specialist.

Surviving is his mother, Josiane Lundquist of Willmar; sons, Benjamin and Eric Lundquist; sister, Marie Sassmannshausen of Phoenix, AZ and brother, Perry Lundquist, Willmar.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Raymond D. Pierskalla was born August 4, 1934 at St. Cloud, MN, the son of Frank and Angeline (Rudolph) Pierskalla. He graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1952. On June 2, 1956, Ray was united in marriage to Irene Stock at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. This union was blessed with two children. He served in the US Army at Fort Leonardwood, MO, during the Korean Conflict. Ray graduated from NDSU in Fargo, ND, in the School of Pharmacy in 1960. He owned and operated Watkins Drug until 1969, then built The Prescription Center in Willmar, which he operated until 1989, when he had a stroke. He was on the Board of Directors at Rice Memorial Hospital from 1988-1990.

He was a member of the Willmar Elks Lodge No. 952 and American Legion Post #167, Willmar.

Ray loved his children and grandchildren and the times they spent swimming and waterskiing at their cabin at Rice Lake near Paynesville, MN. He went on many fishing trips with his buddies and his son. He loved to deer hunt, to pick morel mushrooms in the spring and play cards, especially SKAT. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Surviving is his wife, Irene; daughter, Mary Beth Pierskalla of Portland, ME; son, Robert Pierskalla of Willmar; and two grandchildren, Bobby and Sarah Pierskalla of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alma Skwira.

Marian E. Norskog, 79, of Willmar, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Her funeral will be 11 am, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Marian was born January 11, 1930, in Wood Lake, MN, the daughter of William and Caroline (Fillbrandt) Jeseritz. She attended grade school in Wood Lake and high school at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, graduating on June 6, 1947. She attended Bethany College for two years and transferred to the University of Minnesota, where she completed a BS Degree in Education in 1951.

On March 28, 1953, Marian was united in marriage to Curtis Norskog in Wood Lake. They settled in Willmar and had three children, Allen, Bruce, and Carmen. Marian’s first teaching position was teaching Math and Science at the Junior High in Buffalo, MN, prior to being married. While raising a family, Marian had various teaching roles with Willmar Public Schools as a tutor and substitute teacher for Junior and Senior High students. She started teaching Senior High Math full time in 1974 and then taught with the Special Needs Department at the Willmar Area Vocational-Technical Institute. She was named Willmar Teacher of the Year in 1985.

Marian was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar and active in many committees and activities. She participated in teaching children’s Sunday School classes. She was a Stephen’s minister, taught the Bethel Bible Series and the ChristCare program. She served on the church council in various positions and active in the Women of the ELCA organization, including the position of president. She participated in Calvary’s senior group, NTY, including serving as secretary. Marian took several seminars with Prayer Watch International and helped organize a prayer group and prayer room at Calvary.

Marian is survivied are her husband, Curtis; children: Allen (and Marge) Norskog of Fort Collins, CO, Bruce Norskog of Malden, MA. And Carmen (and Phil) Thies of Huron, SD; four grandchildren, Amy Norskog and Justin, Kaison, and Hannah Thies; her brother, Kenneth (and Beverly) Jeseritz of Wood Lake; and sister, Deborah (and Joseph) VanKempen of Lenexa, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David.

David was born on August 15, 1956, in Willmar, MN, the son of Wayne and Carlla (Appel) Skaggs. He grew up in Willmar where he graduated from Willmar High School in 1975. He enlisted into the United States Marines in 1976, serving until his Honorable Discharge in 1983. While serving overseas he met his wife to be, Marcelina Roman. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1981 in South Carolina. They moved to Willmar where he attended Willmar Vo-Tech for diesel and auto mechanics. For the next 20 years he worked for various shops before starting, Dave’s Repair in Willmar.

He was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church in Willmar.

Surviving are his wife, Marcelina of Spicer; daughters, Ivy Skaggs (and special friend, Casey Wold) of New London; Samantha Skaggs (and special friend, Christian Korsmo) of Spicer; Danielle Skaggs (and special friend, Caleb Friedrich) of Spicer; a grandson, Mason L. Biesecker; his parents, Wayne and Carlla Skaggs of Willmar and siblings, Sheila (and James) Tews of Litchfield; Scott (and Felicia) Skaggs of Litchfield; Joel (and Connie) Skaggs of Cannon Falls; Karen Skaggs of Pennock and Kevin (and Helen) Skaggs of Cambridgeshire, England and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

David O. Nelson age 58 of New London, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service. Visitation will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

David “Dubber” Orville Nelson was born February 7th, 1951 in Willmar the son of Orville and Marie (Stulen) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at Green Lake Lutheran Church, rural Spicer. He grew up in Spicer and attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1969.

At the age of 16 he began working at Jennie-O and later joined the Army to serve his country. He had also served as a member of the Army National Guard for many years.

On December 26, 1970 he married Sherlet Stegeman. To this union two daughters were born. They made their home in Willmar.

On October 29, 1977 he was united in marriage to Diana Donnay in Glencoe. They lived in New London. To this union one son and two daughters were born. Since 1981 he continued to work at Jennie-O Turkey Store, most recently as a Supervisor in the Shipping/Receiving Department. Prior to that he was employed by Stan Block Farms, Dale’s Heating, Chapel Duct, and Nelson Heating and Air Conditioning.

David enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and being a “Papa.” He loved hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. His passions included gardening and his annual Christmas light display. He will always be remembered for his hard work ethic and putting the needs of others first.

Dave had tremendous faith knowing that God had him in His hands. Dubber died on Wednesday, November 18th at Methodist Hospital in Rochester at the age of 58. He fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer; taking it “one day at a time.” His attitude always remained positive and his infectious smile and great hugs will be missed by many. The cancer may have gotten to his lungs, but it didn’t affect his huge heart. He is survived by his wife, Diana of 32 years; their children, Chris (and fiancé Kelly Preble) of Willmar; Trisha (and Shawn) Terning of Kandiyohi, and Megan (and Brian) Palmquist of Willmar; daughters from his first marriage, Amy Berry of Willmar, and Heather (and Shawn) Peterson of Rochester; six grandchildren; siblings, Dan (and Linda) Nelson of Kandiyohi, Mark (and Leanne) Nelson of Willmar, Judy Nelson of Moorhead, and Mike Nelson of Shakopee; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by parents-in-law Kenneth and Gladys Donnay of Glencoe.He was preceded in death by his
parents.

Harlan Stephen Knudsen was born on February 8, 1917 in Kingsbury Co. South Dakota, the son of Alfred and Anna (Steffensen) Knudsen. In 1920 he moved with his family to a farm near Diamond Lake where he attended country grade school in dist. #27. On February 14, 1940, Harlan was united in marriage to Norma Sims at her family’s home in Arctander Twsp. To this union 3 daughters and 2 sons were born. They made their home in Belgrade and New London twsp. a short time before moving to the Bass Lake Farm in 1943. They moved to the Diamond Lake Farm in 1946, where they farmed and resided until moving to GlenOaks Care Center in 2005. Together, Harlan and Norma were able to share in 69 years of marriage.

Harlan was a member of Green Lake Lutheran Church, the Farmers Union and Atwater Creamery Board for many years. He enjoyed playing whist, going to dances and having coffee with his neighbors and friends.

Harlan died on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Merna (Chuck) Pease of Litchfield, Arlyss (Jack) Engelson of Kandiyohi, Craig (Brenda) Knudsen of Atwater and Jeanne (Tim) McKenzie of Richmond; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Erma Miller of Atwater, Thoretta (August) Hoffer of Kandiyohi, Gordon (Marilyn) Knudsen of Kandiyohi and Ramona Perron of Winsted; and sisters-in-laws, Virginia and Frances.

Harlan was preceded in death by his son, Marlin; great-granddaughter, Adriannah; parents and brothers, Eugene and Kinsley.

She was born on April 13, 1915, in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Paul and Rebekah (Hamley) Harris. She graduated from Thief River High School. She graduated from Concordia College in 1937. She taught in Parkers Prairie, Detroit Lakes and Audubon.

On December 18, 1937, she married Gordon Lucas. They lived in Little Falls, Detroit Lakes, Sun City, AZ and Willmar.

She was active in community and civic affairs and a volunteer at Rice Hospital. She was a vocal soloist with the Concordia College Choir, directed church choirs, was active in her church and was program chairman of Calvary NTY.

She is survived by her four children: Lynn (and Don) Burgett of Spicer, Scott (and Meg) Lucas of Hermantown, Jay (and Lois) Lucas of Bemidji, and David (and Peggy) Lucas of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one sister and one grandson.

Judith Anne Tollefson was born on May 17, 1938, in Minneapolis. Judy is the daughter of Carleton and Frances (Sager) Dewey. She grew up in Richfield where she graduated from Richfield High School in 1956. After high school she went on to the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. On February 18, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to Doug Tollefson at Wooddale Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. This union was blessed with two boys and two girls. The family made their home in Benson, where Judy worked as a Public Health Nurse. In 1971 they moved to Hawick. After moving Judy began working as a RN for the Willmar Regional Treatment Center.

Judy was baptized and later confirmed into the Christian faith at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She was a member of Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Hawick. Judy was very active there as the parish nurse and also with the Nordland Lutheran Church Women.

Judy also volunteered for Rice Hospice and anywhere else she was needed. She spent her life as a selfless, caring person, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Judy enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, traveling, and above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her family will remember all the love she shared with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Judith A. Tollefson died on Friday, November 13, 2009, at her home in rural Hawick, she was 71. Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Doug; children, John (Becky) of Moline, IL, Robert (Amy) of Maple Lake, Sharon (Mark) Teague of Sherman, TX, and Laura (Josh) Wangen of Hawick; 13 grandchildren, Cherish, Jessica, Megan, Christopher, Bryanna, Luke, Grace, Jordan, Madalyn, Kailee, Hudson, Abigail, and Jackson; 2 great granddaughters, Kennedi and Emma.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, William.

Dolores was born on March 25, 1923 in Pillsbury Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of William and Dena (Hultgren) Broberg. She grew up in Pillsbury Township where she attended country school and graduated from Kerkhoven High School. She continued her education taking Normal Training in Litchfield.

On July 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to William H. Peterson at her parent’s farm. Dolores and William farmed in Hayes Township before moving to their farm in Pillsbury Township. William died in 1996. In 1997 Dolores moved into a new home in Kerkhoven where she lived for 11 years. In the fall of 2007 she moved to Bethesda Pleasantview of Willmar.

She was an active member of the Salem Covenant Church serving as treasurer, pianist and a member of Salem Covenant Women.

Dolores enjoyed playing piano and organ. Her children remember growing up listening to their Mom playing hymns and singing along with her. Dolores also enjoyed quilting, embroidery, ceramics, metal work and numerous other crafts as her hands were never idle.

Surviving are her children John (and Diane) Peterson of Pennock; Ruth Ann Ashburn of Kerkhoven; Marcia (and Allan) Rice of Kerkhoven; Richard (and Sandy) Peterson of Willmar and James (and Kathy) Peterson of Coon Rapids; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving are her brothers, Vern (and Lorraine) Broberg of Willmar and Edmond (and Maybelle) Broberg of Kerkhoven.

Besides her husband William and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Eunice Carlson and brother, Dennis Broberg.

Janice E. Moller was born on November 27, 1921, in the Dovre Township, the daughter of Bruce and Zada (Whitlock) Hauser. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school close to the farm. She later went on to normal school. She worked for the Bethesda Country Home. On November 18, 1951, Janice was united in marriage to Enock Moller. This union was blessed with five sons. The family made their home on a farm near Spicer. Enock and Janice farmed for 41 years before their retirement in 1982. Enock passed away on October 29, 2003, they shared 51 years of marriage.

Janice attended Zion Lutheran Church in Spicer where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and in the Women’s Circle. She was a current member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, and participated in the Women’s Circle. Janice will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker and hostess.

Janice E. Moller died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Rice Care Center in Willmar, she was 87. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Pat) of Little Falls, John (special friend, Linda Nelson) of Milaca, Kevin (Kelly) of Fairmont, Andrew of Eden Prairie, and Robert (Loree) of Spicer; 6 grandchildren, Jenna, Daniel, Christa, Spencer, Aaron, and Hannah; and a great granddaughter, Arianna.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enock; and infant brother, Gilbert.

Robert “Bob” Prekker, age 77 of Willmar, died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 in rural Clara City. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Monday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Robert Clifford Prekker was born July 9, 1932, to Everette Martin and Taleta (Doesken) Prekker in Clara City. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a youth at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.

Robert attended several country schools near Kerkhoven and Chippewa County, graduating from the 8th grade. He received his Public School Diploma from Chippewa County District 42 in June of 1946. At age 14 he started farming full-time. Robert served with the US Army from June of 1953 to March 1955, during the Korean War. He received the rank of Corporal in the 11th Infantry Regiment, Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist, National Defense Service Medal and Army Occupation Medal (Germany). He also received his GED diploma from Clara City High School during this time.

On April 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Theresa Ann Drexler in Clara City. They farmed 7 ½ miles north of Clara City on County Road 2 in Louriston Township, eventually purchasing this farm. They purchased the Hanson Farm in Woods Township on Highway 40 in 1971. Robert and Terry were blessed with four children, Michael, Nancy Jo, Sue Ann and John. Robert was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar at the time of his death. Bob & Terry moved to Willmar in 1996.

Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #485 in Clara City, Willmar VFW Post #1639, and FOE Aerie #2334. He was a member of Golden Growers Cooperative, Southern MN Beet Sugar Cooperative and a founding member and past board member of the Chippewa Valley Agrafuel Cooperative in Benson.

Bob was actively working in sales for Gold Country Seed and as a representative for Primerica Financial Services and also farmed with his son, Mike, at the time of his death. Bob was an avid reader of anything and everything. He enjoyed history, talking on the telephone, driving, his daily visits to Runnings and Arnolds, old-time dancing and his passion – farming.

He is survived by his wife, Terry, son, Michael Prekker of Clara City; daughters, Nancy (and Don) Van Hauen of Willmar, Sue Keller of New Ulm, and son, John (and Norma Jo) Prekker of Danville, Virginia;12 grandchildren, Holly Prekker, Jeremy Prekker, Valerie Prekker, Schaely Prekker, Tallie Prekker, Derek Van Hauen, Ross Van Hauen (and fiancée, Katie Holmgren), Sara Keller, David Keller, Christian Prekker, Norma Elayna Prekker, and Andrew Prekker. Also surviving is his mother, Taleta Prekker of Clara City; sisters, June Lobitz of Willmar, LeeAnn (and Tom) Skeie of Arlington, Texas; brother-in-law, Richard (and LaMay) Drexler of Redwood Falls, sister-in-law, Gladys “Susie” Drexler of Willmar; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Lobitz.

Mabel Louise Thompson was born on March 23, 1917, in the Gilcrist Township, the daughter of Ludvig and Maren (Skelestad) Elvehjem. She grew up on the family farm and attended a small country grade school. She graduated from Brooten High School, and attended post high school classes in Glenwood until she was married.

On February 25, 1935 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Thompson in Sisseton, South Dakota. This union was blessed with three girls, and three boys. The family made their home in Belgrade where Kenneth and Mabel owned and operated the Thompson’s Café. Mabel was known for her hot beef sandwiches. She retired when they sold the business after Kenneth died in 1966. Mabel then went to work for the Municipal Liquor Store, and worked there until she was 70 years old and retired.

Mabel was a member of Crow Lake Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade until it was closed. While there she was president of the Ladies Aide and a trustee for the church. Mabel was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade, and was active in the Ladies Circle there.

Mabel was a past Cub Scout Leader; an avid sports enthusiast, attending all of children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s sporting events; and a seamstress for the family. She enjoyed fishing, was a great bowler, and loved teaching her grandchildren how to play poker.

Mabel L. Thompson died on Monday, November 9, 2009, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood at the age of 92. She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Eugene) Johnson of New Brighton, Kaye (James) Bahe of Belgrade, Mary Jo (Richard) McCuskey of Brooten, Ken Thompson of Maple Grove, Terry (Linda) Thompson of St. Cloud, and Dennis (Nancy) Weimerskirch of Belgrade; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; infant son; daughter, Renee; granddaughter, Michelle; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.

LaVerne Olga Rosella Sakariason was born on Jan. 14, 1918 in New London, the daughter of Arne and Belinda (Walby) Larson. She attended New London High School, graduating in 1936. After her schooling she worked for the Variety Store and at George and Nellie Bengtson’s Restaurant.

On Feb. 12, 1939 she was united in marriage to Harold Gustafson. This union was blessed with four children. They made their home in New London where she worked for the Variety Store, New London Telephone and the Big Store. Together they were able to share in 22 years of marriage before Harold’s death on June 19, 1961.

On Sept 3, 1964, LaVerne was united in marriage to Martin Sakariason. They farmed east of Sunburg and LaVerne worked for the Willmar Regional Treatment Center, retiring in 1982. They retired from farming in 1973 and built a home on the south side of Lake Andrew. Due to health concerns they moved to the village apartments at GlenOaks and later to the assisted living and care center. Together they were able to share in 42 years of marriage before Martin’s death on November 5, 2006.

Laverne was very active in Sunday school, Circle and Ladies Aid, in both Trinity Lutheran and Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed swimming and ice skating in her younger years. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those that lives have been touched by her.

Laverne died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Rice Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. She is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Filla of Dayton, WA, and Loretta Ruter of Belgrade; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Gustafson and son-in-law, Gene (Joni) Lund.

Laverne was preceded in death by husbands, Harold and Martin; two children, Charlotte Lund and Francis “Butch” Gustafson; granddaughter, Yvette Smith; and son-in-laws, Ron Filla and George Ruter; 4 brothers and a sister.

Deron was born on August 18, 1971, in Brookings, SD, the son of Eugene and Sharon (Johnson) Arnold. He grew up in Brookings, graduating from high school in 1990. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from South Dakota State University in 1994 and attended medical school at University of South Dakota, Vermillion, receiving his MD in 1998. On June 13th, 1998 he was united in marriage to Jan Gustafson at Viking Covenant Church in Viking, Minnesota. He completed his residency at the USD in Sioux Falls in 2003 and they moved to Willmar. He was a pathologist with Minnesota Pathologists Chartered at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Jan of Willmar; sons, Maxwell and Mark; mother, Sharon Arnold of Brookings, SD; sister, Dawn (and Joel) Mason of Cedar Falls, IA; mother and father-in-law, John and Leona Gustafson of Viking; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gene.

Duane John Rasanen was born on December 29, 1950, in Duluth, Minnesota the son of David and Dorothy (Kilpo) Rasanen. He grew up in Duluth graduating from Central High School in 1968. Duane worked in the laundry department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

On June 1, 1985, Duane was united in marriage to Barbara Poore at their home in Cloquet. This union was blessed with one daughter. They lived in Cloquet and Duane retired from the hospital in 1986. Their family moved to Omaha, Nebraska for a short time prior to moving to Willmar in 1999.

Duane was baptized and confirmed in Duluth and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran in Willmar at the time of his death.

His family recalls Duane’s hobbies of bowling and singing Karaoke. He had great compassion for others and taught his family to love and be respectful to all.

Surviving is his wife, Barbara; daughter, Jennifer of Willmar; step-daughters, Christy Ruegge, Hastings, NE, and Sarah (and Randy) Skierka of Elkhorn, NE; two step-grandchildren, Sydney and Grant. Also surviving are his siblings, Linda (and Grant) Rowell, Bella Vista AR, Jeff Rasanen, Waterloo, IA, and Steve Rasanen, Bella Vista, AR; and brother-in-law, Richard (and Loretta) Poore, Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary.

Harold Elsworth Johnson was born on October 25, 1930 in Willmar, Minnesota the son of Hans and Esther (Sakariason) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm near Sunburg. He was baptized on November 11, 1930 and confirmed into the Christian faith on August 6, 1944, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake where he was a lifetime member. Harold received his primary school education at District 13 country school before attending New London High School. In 1949, he began farming. He farmed until his retirement, but continued to live on his farm until his death.

Harold loved farming, and being a farmer. He also enjoyed watching birds that he fed, gardening, fishing for sunnies, and visiting with his relatives and friends. He also loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews, whom he loved like his own children.

Harold died on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at his home near Sunburg, he was 79. Harold is survived by his brother, Tallack (Janice) Johnson of Detroit Lakes; nephew, Leland (Tracy) Johnson of Coon Rapids, and their children, Anna and Emma; nieces Rebecca (Rick) Windom of St. Peter and their children John and Melissa, Marie (Gregory) Ready of Hampton VA, and Wanda (Daniel) Feela of Anchorage, AK and McEwen, TN.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Elsie.

Precious J. Eisenbacher is survived by parents Jason and Tierney Eisenbacher; twin sister Brightyn of Willmar; grandparents: Randy Drange of Grove City, Don and Robin Anfinson of Spicer, Steven and Kathy Eisenbacher of Spicer; great-grandparents: Gerald and Joyce Drange of Grove City, Dianne Lankey of Grove City, Doug and Anne Lankey of Willmar, Dorey Gross of Clark, SD; great-great-grandmother Leone Hamm of Grove City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Precious J. was preceded in death by great-grandparents Kenneth and Geraldine Eisenbacher, and John Gross.

May was born on April 9, 1906, in Hannah, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Laura (Rundle) Bassingthwaite. She graduated from Hannah High School in 1924, attended Valley State Teachers College and taught school in North Dakota for 26 years.

On June 10, 1930 she married Gottlieb Herber. On March 11, 1939, she married Hugh Grieve. They lived and farmed near Hannah before moving to Willmar in 1980. She was active in the Willmar Senior Citizens and the United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her children, David Herber (and special friend, Jessica Fullerton) of Paso Robles, CA; Beverly (and Rod) Engleson of Willmar; Carolyn Grieve (and Dick Puckett) of Grand Rapids, MN; and Meredith (and Ron) Godfrey of Battle Lake, MN; 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and 11 siblings, also preceding her in death were her daughter, Patricia Halvorson, son-in-law, Larry Knight and special friend, O.B. Stovern.

William Darrell Barber was born on February 4, 1928 in Spicer, Minnesota the son of Harry and Lois (Latterell) Barber. He grew up in Spicer and attended Spicer Elementary. He graduated from Willmar High School in the class of 1946, he then attended St. Cloud Business College. In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill received an Honorable Discharge in 1952. He returned to the Willmar area and later began working for Atwater Ford as Parts Manager. Bill was united in marriage to Marcella Gustafson Gunnufson on February 14, 1988 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Edina. The couple lived in Willmar. Bill retired in 1991.

He was baptized and confirmed at Spicer Presbyterian Church in Spicer. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.

Bill was a charter member of the Spicer American Legion, Atwater Masonic Lodge, and Lakeside Dance Club. He enjoyed woodworking, making lures, fishing, bow hunting. Bill made several hunting and fishing trips to Canada and the Arctic Circle. Bill was a good son, brother, and husband. Following his retirement, he and Marcella enjoyed traveling throughout the world.

On Monday, October 19, 2009, Bill died at the Rice Care Center in Willmar at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Marcella Barber of Willmar; step-daughters: Marsha (Mark) Ellingson of Edina, Mary Sue Gunnufson of Billings, Montana; grandchildren: Ben Ellingson, Angie (Sheldon) Libby, Patrick Ellingson; great-granddaughter: Brynn Libby; brother Robert (Mickey) Barber of Maple Grove; nephew Bruce (Diane) Barber; nieces: Bonnie (Gary) Faue, Beth (Arnold) Gammelgaard, Betty (Chuck) Klein and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold.

Kenneth Frank Eisenbacher was born on July 22, 1929 on the family farm near St. James. On July 21, 1948 he entered the US Army, and was stationed in Germany until his discharge on July 12, 1950. He returned to Minnesota and farmed with his family near Atwater. On November 7, 1953, Kenneth was united in marriage to Geraldean Exline at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Davenport, Iowa. They made their home in Davenport where he worked for Oscar Mayer. They moved to rural Spicer in 1964 where they farmed until 1978, when he began working for Hanson Silo as a parts manager for ten years. He then returned to school, receiving his GED and part sales management degree, graduating with honors. In retirement he enjoyed making, marketing, and selling his Ike’s Decoys.

Kenneth died on October 19, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 80. He is survived by, four sons, Steven (Kathy) Eisenbacher of Spicer, Stanley Eisenbacher of Litchfield, George (Nancy) Eisenbacher of Watkins and Nathan (Joan) Eisenbacher of Sartell; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lillian, Rita, Agatha, Marjorie, Roger (Margaret) and Earl (Kay).

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Gerry; parents and siblings, Walter, Donald, Leonard, Harold, Marion, Arlene, and Helen.

Ron Jensen, 46, of Willmar, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at his home. His funeral will be 1:00 pm, Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Ronald Lee was born on July 13, 1963, in San Bernardino, CA, the son of Howard and Beverly (Bridel) Jensen. In 1974, his family moved to Minnesota and settled in Kerkhoven where he graduated from KMS High School in 1981. Ron continued his education in diesel mechanics at Willmar Vo-Tech for a year. He then went to St. Paul and studied at Crown College and also was taking Bible Theology courses. Ron spent the next two years in Africa as a missionary, working in maintenance and as a mechanic.

After returning to Kerkhoven where he lived on his parents homestead, south of Kerkhoven, Ron began working as a machinist for Ken Janssen. In the early 1990’s, he purchased a welding shop in Hancock and operated Hancock Welding until 2004. While living in Hancock, Ron was active with the Hancock Fire Department, 4th of July Celebration and numerous other civic activities including even playing Santa Claus.

Because of Ron’s health he was forced to retire in 2004 and in 2006 he moved to Willmar. For the past three years, Ron worked for Compassionate Care and just recently started working for Bethesda Adult Day Services as an Activities Assistant.

On May 25, 2008, Ron was united in marriage to Kristine Nelson, the love of his life, at Redeemer Lutheran Church where they were members and he sang in the choir.

Ron loved laughter and humor, sharing that laughter and humor with whomever was around him, especially his longtime friend, Julie Rice. He enjoyed practical jokes and teasing, especially with Kris and his mom, Bev.

Surviving are his wife, Kris; children, Bethany and Brendan at home; Johnathan (and Brigitte) of Phoenix, AZ; mother, Beverly Jensen of Kerkhoven; mother and father-in-law, Don and Eileen Nelson of Kerkhoven; siblings, Nancy Smith, Carol Jensen and Dave (and Corene) Jensen all of Kerkhoven; Donna (and Mike) Laudenbach of Onamia and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Jensen.

Maureen Gladys (Peterson) was born on February 7, 1930, in Dodge Center, Minnesota, the daughter of Perry and Clara (Larsen) Peterson. She graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1948, where she was active in band and choir. She was part of a trumpet trio that performed around the Dodge Center area. Follow graduation Maureen attended Winona State Teachers College and studied music.

On September 17, 1954, Maureen was united in marriage to Donald K. McBroom at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. Following their marriage they lived in Rochester, Byron and Blomkest before moving to Willmar in 1976. Maureen was employed at the Kandiyohi County Drivers License Bureau, retiring in the 1990’s. Following their retirement she and Don spent their winters in Arizona and Nevada in their motor home. Don preceded her in death on December 9, 2005.

Maureen played piano and trumpet for various civic activities in Willmar including the Community Band and performed in different plays at the Barn Theatre.

While living in the Blomkest area they attended Svea Lutheran Church where Marureen was the choir director. While living in Willmar she was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Leaks of Willmar, Dona Joslin of Minneapolis and Barb (and Mark) Norbie of Willmar; five grandsons, Nathan (and Monica) Norbie, Nicholas ( and Christina) Norbie, Justin Norbie, Michael Hernandez, and Jonathan Leaks; four great grandchildren, Carlee Norbie, Taylor Norbie, Qwen Norbie and Brandon Norbie.

In addition to her husband Don, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Mereness.

Violet Ione ( Kottke) was born on February 21, 1923, at Nassau, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Jensen) she grew up in the Benson area graduating from Benson High School.

On May 17, 1946, Violet was united in marriage to Howard Larson at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. This union was blessed with three children. They farmed near Murdock until 1972, when they moved to Kerkhoven, later moving to Mapleton when they lived for a short time before moving back to Kerkhoven. Howard preceded her in death on April 13, 1997. Violet continued to live in Kerkhoven up until the time of her death.  Violet was a member of the Murdock Homemakers Club for a number of years.

She was baptized and confirmed and was a former member of Frank Lake Covenant Church where she served as president of the CWA. Violet was a member of Salem Covenant Church at the time of her death.

Surviving are her children; Dianne (and Jim) Dahl of Little Falls, Jennifer Halverson, Casselton, ND, and Paul Larson of Kerkhoven; ten grandchildren, Craig, Eric, Andrea, Josh, Nick, Madison, Kendall, Brennen, Daniele, and Lauryn; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Devon, Justice, Silka and Kaylee. Also surviving is her brother, Glen and Peg) Kottke, Ankeny, Iowa.

In addition to her husband Howard, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Milton Kottke.

George Ruter, was born on September 7, 1924 to Lucas and Weike (DeVries) Ruter in the Crooks Township near Renville, MN.  He attended grade school at a small country school near his family farm and graduated from Renville High School. He farmed with his father until he entered the United States Army on January 22, 1945 and served his country in the occupation of Korea. After he was discharged from the army George farmed south of Sacred Heart. He married Vivian Hagedorn in 1946, this union was blessed with five children, Steven (Lynnette) Ruter of Forest Lake, Connie (Lyle) Lalim of Little Falls, Cathy (Ed) Lester of New London, Shirley (Adrian) Treon of Daytona Beach, FL, Brenda (Greg) Bergman of Little Falls. In 1968, he and Vivian moved to a farm south of Belgrade, and later divorced. He was united in marriage to Loretta (Gustafson) Gerhardson in 1975. He was blessed with four stepchildren, Layne Gerhardson of Willmar, Lee Gerhardson of Plymouth, Lyle (Krisa) Gerhardson of Sherwood, Lynnette (Paul) Beuning of Brooten. They farmed Northeast of Belgrade for 34 years.

George was a member of Our Savoir Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, and of Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade.

George was a 4-H leader, and commander of the VFW in Sacred Heart. He was also a member of the Belgrade VFW Saboe-Levorson Post #545. George had a great passion for farming and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by those he touched and welcomed into his home. George supported all his children in 4-H transporting many animals all over Minnesota for shows. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, dancing, and playing cards.

George Ruter died on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital, he was 85. George is survived by his wife; children; step children; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian Ruter of Spicer and brother, Claus Ruter, of Glenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and five sisters.

Marlys Ordell Dengerud was born on March 12, 1933 in Winthrop, the daughter of George and Sophia (Shult) Schroeder. She was baptized on May 21, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. She attended Bethany High School in Mankato. On Oct. 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to Albert Tonn. To this union seven children were born. They later divorced.

Marlys worked as a homemaker while her children were young and later worked at Rice Hospital until her retirement in 1998. On Nov. 27, 1982, she was united in marriage to Benart Dengerud at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. They made their home in Spicer and enjoyed boating, fishing, retirement and spending time with their families. She also enjoyed crafts, crocheting and watching the Vikings and Dancing with the Stars. Marlys and Benart were able to share in 27 years of marriage.

Marlys died on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband Benart Dengerud; son Wayne (Jan) Tonn of Wood Lake, Mike (Jolene) Tonn of Madison, Alan (Val) Tonn of Belgrade, Ron (Nancy) Tonn of Willmar, Pam (Doug) Tanner of State Center, IA and Brenda (Dustin) Cargal of Gillette, WY; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; step-children, Judie Brown, Louanne Villnow, Debra (Mark) Tagtow, Pamela (Keith) Dickson and Vicky Dengerud; 15 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; siblings Irene Schwint of Redwood Falls, Elaine Askeland of La Salle, Arnold Schroeder of Mankato, Betty Bruender of Mankato and Sharon Tiemann of Madison Lake.

Marlys was preceded in death by her son, Richard; granddaughter, Tanya Tonn and siblings, Virgil and Doris.

Jennie was born on March 4, 1913, in Clara City, MN, the daughter of Dick and Jennie (Bontjes) Grussing. She attended Clara City Public Schools, graduating in 1931. She went onto St. Cloud Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools in Rheiderland and Lone Tree Townships for the next 10 years. For over 30 years, she worked at Larson Food Market in Clara City. She was a volunteer at the Clara City Nursing Home where she was a member of the Auxiliary. Jennie also was a member of the Busy Hoe Garden Club and the Senior Citizens.

She was a lifetime member of Bethany Reformed Church having been baptized on April 5, 1914. Jennie taught Sunday school for many years and was active with the Reformed Church Women.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews, including, George “Elwood” (and Sandra) Grussing of Willmar.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Henry D., Bon, George, John, Dick and Hillen.

Inga was born on September 2, 1906, in Longager, Karmoy, Norway, the daughter of Mandius and Serena Pederson. She immigrated to the United States with her family, leaving Norway on June 13, 1914. Her family first went to Butler, SD and nine months later, in the spring of 1915, they moved to Willmar. She attended Willmar Public Schools, graduating in 1926. She worked as legal secretary for 25 years with the law firm of Henderickson - Hulstrand and Langsjoen in Willmar and later was a secretary in the Superintendent’s office with the Great Northern Railroad for 11 years before retiring. On February 4, 1952, Inga was united in marriage to Irvin C. Johnson and they continued to live in Willmar.

Inga was a devoted member of Calvary Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school superintendent and sang in the choir. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage and was a member of Sons of Norway. Inga belonged to a number of women’s organizations and had once served as a Girl Scout leader. Inga enjoyed bowling, Hardanger and Norwegian Rosemaling.

Surviving are her siblings, Helen Pederson and Margit Erickson of Willmar; Kenneth Pederson of Torrance, CA; and brother-in-law, Elmo Sanders of Willmar and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Irvin; Inga was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter, Trygve, Sigvald, Sigurd and John and sisters, Louise Emberland and Marie Sanders.

Theodore Gustav Moen was born on April 24, 1914 on the family farm in Lake George Township of Stearns County, the son of Nils and Mari (Heieie) Moen. He was baptized on July 17, 1914 and confirmed on April 22, 1928 both at Big Grove Lutheran Church. He attended country grade school and Belgrade High School, graduating in 1933. After his schooling he farmed with his brother, Almo until his retirement in 1977. After his retirement he moved into Belgrade and later Glenwood.

Ted enjoyed farming and attending threshing bees in Rollag and Dalton each year with his brother. He was a member of Big Grove Lutheran Church, Brooten Senior Citizens and Hallinglaget of America, attending many Hallinglag stevner through the years, contributing to his interest in genealogy.

He is survived by numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Tilda Moen, Almo Moen, Eveline Moen and Hazel Moen.

Elaine Marie Rosenquist was born on September 27, 1938, in Willmar, Minnesota the daughter of Aldor J. and Irene N. (Wareberg) Rosenquist. She grew up in the Willmar area and graduated from Willmar High School in 1956. Following graduation, Elaine moved to California where she worked as a Calendar Clerk for the Los Angeles Court until 1999 when she retired. She continued to live in California until September 2009, when she moved back to the Willmar area.

She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Elaine’s family recalls the love and concern she had for her nieces and nephews, sending them notes and cards of encouragement. She had great compassion for the needs of others and especially animals. Her hobbies included reading, flower gardening and caring for her pets.

Surviving are her siblings, Lee (and Judy) Rosenquist, Cokato; Carol (and Russ) Emberland, Willmar; and David (and Karen) Rosenquist, Plymouth; nine nieces and nephew and numerous great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her two uncles and aunts, Rial Lindsoe of Willmar, Norman (and Carol) Wareberg, West Hills, CA, and Hazel Peterson, Spicer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred

Arnold Manley Dengerud was born on February 8, 1937 on the family farm in Lake Andrew Township, the son of Walter and Gladys (Nyseth) Dengerud He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. He grew up on the family farm and attended country grade school in Dist. #25. He entered the United States Army on May 24, 1956 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on May 7, 1958 and returned to Minnesota, living in Minneapolis and working as a carpenter and in bridge construction for Johnson Brothers, Oster Pederson, and Lunda Construction. He would also return to the family farm on weekends and evenings to help his parents. On March 18, 1978, Arnold was united in marriage to Barbara Hjelle. They made their home on the Dengerud family farm and he returned to farming full-time until his retirement in 1998. Arnold and Barbara were able to share in 31 years of marriage.

Arnold enjoyed his work and took great pride in seeing it through to completion. He also enjoyed hunting, winter fishing and spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.

Arnold died on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Steve (Julie) Dengerud of Grove City, David Dengerud of Starbuck and Nancy Weston of New Hope; three grandchildren, Shelby, Grant and Brooks; siblings, Clifford (Sally) Dengerud of Frankston, TX and Gail (Don) Otteson of Brooten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary W. Balbach was born on May 30, 1948, in Springfield, MN, the son of William and Lucille (Fiedler) Balbach. He grew up in Springfield where he attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School and graduated from Springfield High School. On December 17, 1966 Gary was united in marriage to Sandy Bielen at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. This union was blessed with a daughter, Shelly, a son, Rick, and an adopted son, Ron. The family made their home in Comfrey, where they farmed the Balbach Family Centennial Farm, and also farmed in the Toronto, SD area. In 1995 Gary and Sandy moved to Lake Calhoun in rural Spicer.

Gary was a member of Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Paynesville, he was the designated church hugger. Gary was a member of the R-calf Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and ice fishing, attending and watching Sprint and Nascar Racing. Gary will be remembered as a mentor to many. He enjoyed hosting large gatherings, especially the 4th of July with spectacular fireworks and his special Christmas last year. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

Gary W. Balbach died on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, he was 61. Gary is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Spicer; daughter, Shelly (Keith) Blaschko of Garden City; 5 grandchildren, 5 adopted grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Jeanette) Balbach of Bertha, Diane (Curt) Thram of Sanborn, Pat (Duane) Dauer of Springfield, Lisa (Mike) Zihlke of Springfield, Lori (Clayton) Kretsch of Springfield. Gary is also survived by his mother-in-law Gloria Bielen of Springfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dawn (Gary) VanDyke of Mankato, Cheryl Haas of New London, Craig (Lori) Bielen of Springfield, Michelle (Greg Stage) Bielen of Springfield, Kim (Pat) Lang of Springfield.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lucille; son, Rick; father-in-law, Burt Bielen; and brother-in-law Brad Bielen.

Marion C. Saenger was born on February 14, 1923, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Charles and May (Olsen) Larson. She grew up in Minneapolis where she attended William Penn Elementary School and graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1941. After High School she worked as a secretary for Landers Excavating in Minneapolis.

On June 19, 1948 Marion was united in marriage to Arnold Saenger at Christ English Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. To this union a daughter was born, the family made their home in Minneapolis where Marion was a stay at home mom. In 1968 Marion and Arnold moved to rural Paynesville where Arnold became a local carpenter. After moving to Paynesville Marion worked for the middle school as a library aide.

Marion was a member of Nordland Lutheran Church where she was active in the WELCA. Marion enjoyed baking, needle point, knitting, and playing the organ. She also enjoyed flower gardening and would bring flowers into the Paynesville Flower Show each year. Marion was a good listener with a servant’s heart.

Marion C. Saenger died on Friday, October 02, 2009 at Koronis Manor in Paynesville, she was 86. She is survived by her husband, Arnold; daughter, Carol (Duane) Warmbold of Paynesville; grandchildren, Chad (Kerry) Warmbold of Paynesville, Teresa (Chad) Thornton of Pelican Rapids, Sara (Emson) Juma, of Paynesville; great grandchildren, Wesley, Erin, Mason, Mackenzie, Farisai, Tafadzwa, Mollie. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mabel Larson of Mesa, AZ.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl.

Inez Lorene Denton was born on August 2, 1923 in Swift County, Hayes Township, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Louise (Johnson) Nybakke. She grew up in Hayes Township where she attended country school and graduated from Kerkhoven High School in the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Harley Denton on April 4, 1942. The couple farmed in Hayes Township and Harley retired from farming in 1981, but they continued to live on the farm. In retirement they enjoyed traveling, and raising Registered Percheron Horses. Inez was a homemaker and involved in many activities while the family was growing up including: 4-H, Choir, Band Mothers, P.T.A.

Inez was baptized and confirmed at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. She was a member of Kerkhoven Presbyterian Church where she was very active; singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and was an officer for Presbyterian Women and Deacon for many years.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2009 Inez passed away at the Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar and the age of 86 years. She is survived by her children: Donna (John) McLouth of New London, Bonnie (Greg) Bedard of Rochester, Judy (Steve) Relf of Birch Run, MI, James Denton of Rochester and Ruth (Brad) Graber of Fargo, ND; three granddaughters: Tressa McLouth, Sarah Graber, Kristen Graber; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harley in 1993 and four brothers: Julian, Clinton, Clifford, Russell and sister Doris Mithaugen.
