Anna C. Halvorson

Anna C. Halvorson, 94 of Belgrade, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Crow River Lutheran Church near Belgrade.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church and for one hour prior to the services.  Burial will be in Gausdal Lutheran Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.      Memorials may be directed to the Crow River Lutheran Church Youth.                             

Anna Caroline (Anderson) Halvorson was born on April 16, 1925, to Herman & Clara Anderson of Belgrade, MN. She attended country school & graduated from Belgrade high School in 1943. Anna was baptized & confirmed at Crow River Lutheran Church, became a member of Gausdal Lutheran Church when she married Gordon and later, they rejoined Crow River Lutheran.  She married Gordon M. Halvorson on May 24, 1946. Anna farmed with Gordon and held various part-time positions; including the Belgrade nursing home, co-head cook at Belgrade School and worked at Maher dept. store and the Big Store in New London.

Anna was an active member of both churches, a member of the Belgrade VFW Ladies Auxiliary, served on the Belgrade School Board from 1976 to 1985 and was a member of the Willmar and Belgrade Senior Citizens. Anna liked to travel, visiting Norway twice and going on bus trips with Gordon, attending family events and having coffee with her friends and visiting with people. Her family and extended family were very important to her.

Anna died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday July 6, 2019 at Glen Oaks Nursing home at the age of 94. Surviving are her children; Doug (Judy) of Isle, Phyllis (Jim) Framstad of Annandale, Marilyn (Paul) Erickson of Circle Pines, Ron (Kay) of New London, Dan (Sue) of Willmar, Stan (Rachel) of Sequim, WA, Ralph (Melissa) of Shafer, and Paul (Carrie) of Belgrade; 33 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Lucille (Phil) Olson of Bethesda Nursing Home, Willmar.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Halvorson, infant son, Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Deb Halvorson; brothers, Howard, Gudwin, Donald, Robert and sisters, Hildegard & Genevieve.
