Chad Norsten

Chad Jonathon Norsten, 47, of Willmar, died Sunday, August 18th at Carris Health Care Center and Therapy Suites.  His funeral will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 22nd at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar with visitation from 12:00 pm (noon) until time of the service.  Please wear your Minnesota Wild clothing and memorials are preferred to an organization of your choice in lieu of flowers.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Chad was born January 4, 1972, in Willmar, MN, the son of Dale and Susan (Chapin) Norsten.   He was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church where he was a lifetime member.  Chad attended Willmar Public Schools and graduated from Willmar High School in 1990.  Following high school, he worked in different grocery stores in Willmar before he became disabled and retired.  He was married to Jennifer Overcash.

He was an avid Minnesota Wild fan who rarely missed a game but he also enjoyed playing in a pool league, fishing, golfing, and Ford Mustangs.  His memory of lyrics of all genres of music was amazing.  Most of all, Chad was proud of his 5 ½ years of sobriety, admitting that every day was challenge but continued his commitment to be sober even through all of his health struggles. 

Surviving are his daughter, Mia Swenson of Atwater; mother and step-father, Susan (and Jerry) Schiro of Willmar; brothers, Todd (and Leslie Cohan) Norsten of Brooklyn Park; Eric (and Jeremy Mikel) Norsten of Sauk Rapids; step-sister, Jana (Teal) Schafer of Hector and step-brother, Justin (and Stephannie) Schiro of Baudette; along with several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Norsten; maternal grandparents, Elmo and Lorraine Chapin and paternal grandparents, Donald and Dorothy Norsten and niece, Hilary Dahl.
