Christine Haats was born September 13, 1925 in Willmar, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Jager) Huisenga. She attended Willmar schools and started working as a waitress when she was a teenager. She would visit grandpa and grandma Huisenga daily, where they would speak German and drink tea. On April 25, 1946, Christine was united in marriage to Ted Haats. To this union three children were born: Cheryle, Timothy and Shannon. While Ted was in the service, Christine would often send him love letters. After his honorable discharge, they moved to an apartment in Raymond for a year before they purchased their home. During this time, Christine stayed home with her children where she enjoyed teaching them how to bake, read and many other lifelong skills. Ted and Christine owned and operated the Lone Tree Bar in Raymond for a few years. Christine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. She could always be seen playing, teasing, and being silly with the grandkids. She also enjoyed going to family get-togethers and birthday parties.
Christine is survived by her children: Cheryle “Chic” Bredesen of Willmar, Timothy (and Char) Haats of Raymond, Shannon (and Vern Jr.) Hultgren-Loch of Litchfield; eight grandchildren: Jason (and Brenda) Bredesen, Marcy (and Stacy) Sweep, Joshua Bredesen, Troy Haats, Brandon Haats, Rachel (Jeremy) Marcus, Bethany (and Eric) Stevermer and Gina Hultgren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; parents; grandson, Justin Bredesen; son-in-law, Douglas Hultgren; and eight siblings.
