Connie Thompson Obituary

Connie Thompson, 56, of Willmar, died Tuesday, January 7th at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Her funeral will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 11th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. In honor of Connie and her love of the Minnesota Vikings, please wear your purple apparel to the visitation from 5-7 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.   www.hafh.org

Connie was born September 4, 1963, in Willmar, the daughter of Warren and Doris (Johnson) Flaten.  She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church, and graduated from Willmar High School.  She continued her education at Willmar Vo-Tech.

On April 23, 1988, she was united in marriage to Scott Thompson at Calvary Lutheran Church where she remained a lifetime member.  They lived in Crystal and St. Louis Park and she worked for the FBI before returning to Willmar in 1990.  Connie most recently was working at Mills Parts Center until her health forced her to retire.

She was an avid race car fan, volunteer at KRA, driver, even winning several features herself, and helping in the pit with her husband and son’s cars when needed. When she wasn’t involved in racing or watching racing, you could hear her cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, going ice fishing, or spending time at the family cabin on Maple Lake.  Her sense of humor and willingness to be the “life of the party” will be missed by many.

Surviving are her husband, Scott; children, Adam of Willmar; Allison (and Brian Burwell) Thompson of Willmar; grandchildren: Braylon, Arian and Allayah; her brother, Don (and Sue) Flaten of Staples.  She is also survived by her in-laws, Paul (and Kari) Thompson of Spicer and Paulette (and Ralph) Jelen of St. Leo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Robbie Thompson.
