Curtis P. Hanson 59, of Spicer, died Saturday, March 9, 2019, at his home in rural Spicer. His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 16, at the Paynesville Evangelical Free Church in rural Paynesville. Burial will be at the East Irving Mission Cemetery in rural Paynesville. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in New London.
Curtis Philip Hanson was born June 24, 1959, in Willmar, MN the son of Philip and Norma (Baklund) Hanson. He grew up in the Irving Township where he went to elementary school at Old Grey in New London and graduated from New London High School with the Class of 1977. After high school Curtis earned his Associates Degree in Carpentry from Willmar Vo-Tech, now Ridgewater College.
On December 28, 1985, Curtis was united in marriage to Linda Schmidt, at Paynesville Evangelical Free Church in rural Paynesville. This union was blessed with three sons. The family made their home in the Irving Township. Curtis owned and operated a custom cabinet business where he provided beautiful cabinets for many homes in the area for 25 years.
Curtis was a member of Paynesville Evangelical Free Church. He was active there as a member of the church council and also as a Building Committee member. Curtis enjoyed the outdoors, hunting ducks and pheasants, and fishing for walleye and bass. Curtis will be remembered as an honest man that was always there for a friend in need.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda; sons, Justin (Kelsey) of St. Cloud, and Chris (Ashley) of Baxter; grandsons, Noah and Greyson; godsons, Cody Jakobson and David Hanson; siblings: Patricia (Roger) Fernelius of Little Falls, Nancy (Rodney) Larson of Delano, Monica Klose of New London, Bruce (Ann) Hanson of Buffalo; and many nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, and son Philip.
