Cynthia Haugsby Obituary

Cynthia Sue Haugsby, age 56, of Willmar, was called home on August 7, after a 17-year battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory should be made to the Abbott Northwestern Piper Cancer Center, Minneapolis, MN.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Faith and love of family were ever-present priorities in her life. They drove how she invested her time and energy. They gave her hope and comfort while battling cancer through the years.

Cyndy was born November 7, 1962, to Ernest and Margie Vold, of Osseo, Wis. Cyndy met her husband Mike while they worked as summer counselors at Luther Park Bible Camp, Chetek, WI. Luther Park was a special place in her heart throughout her lifetime, from childhood experiences through to parenthood and participating in family vacations.

Cyndy graduated from Viterbo College, La Crosse, WI, as a registered nurse. She held a variety of nursing positions in hospital, clinic, school, and telecommuting environments. In each role, she provided a caring hand in helping others in their times of need. This was one way she lived out her faith each day.

As her children arrived, her focus and commitment to family was clear. Cyndy was actively involved in church sunday school and choir programs as the kids grew up. She supported numerous kids’ extra-curricular activities and functions. She loved planning and leading family vacations across the United States and beyond. With each trip and each year, the experiences were captured in scrapbooks she created with love.

She wanted to provide for her family. She gave her children the opportunities to see and learn about the world, to confidently grow in their beliefs, and to follow their hopes and dreams whatever they may lead. She was so very proud of each of her children and of her grandchild.

She is survived by her parents, Ernest and Margie Vold, sister Debbie Walters, brother Mark Vold, husband Mike Haugsby, son Erik Haugsby, daughter Kjerstin Haugsby, son Peder Haugsby and grandson Severin Haugsby-Seekircher.
