Dale Bernard Kelling was born on October 14, 1934 to Joe and Alvina (Jacobsen) Kelling in Malmo, the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Staples High School and joined the National Guard after graduation and later the Army where he worked as a medic. It was in Soderville, working at the Arden Hills Armory where he met his wife, Sandra. They married on October 4, 1969 and moved to Pillager shortly after they married. Dale spent his days working on the turkey farm and he and Sandra kept busy raising their four children. In his spare time, he was an assistant scout leader. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and fishing in his younger days. It was evident though; Dale’s favorite pastime was camping. The family loved to camp at State Parks and s’mores around the bonfire were favorite memories. In 1991, the family moved to New London where Dale continued to work for Jennie-O. After retirement, Dale enjoyed woodworking and bingo. He also loved spending time with his 6 grandchildren. Dale was always an avid sports fan, following the Twins, Vikings and NL-S Wildcats, never one to miss a game or cheer on the home team He was also proud of professing his devotion after a lifetime of following the Catholic faith, Dale officially joined the Catholic Church in 2011. Dale is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra; four children, Sue (Will), Wayne, Ann (Mike), Mary (Chris); and his six grandchildren, Garrett, Sean, Allie, Nathan, Andrew, and Kassandra; siblings, Kenneth, Gene, Connie, and Larry.
