Kathy Hatanpaa Obituary

Kathy Joann Hatanpaa, 56, of Moose Lake, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by her three children and husband on Wednesday, June 26th at her home.  Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 29th at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Raymond. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Willmar. www.hafh.org

Kathy Joann Hatanpaa was born on December 14, 1962, to Donald and Albertha “Birdie” (Onnen) Urban in Willmar. She grew up in Priam and was baptized and later confirm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Raymond. She attended Raymond Elementary and High School and graduated in 1981. Kathy furthered her education at Willmar Vo-Tech College where she graduated with a degree in Accounting and Book Keeping. On April 25, 1987, Kathy was united in marriage to Richard Hatanpaa in Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. They were blessed with three children: Alexander, Zachary and Adalia. After marriage they moved to Golden Valley where they continued to live until 1999. During this time Kathy worked as an accountant, book keeper, treasurer, day care owner, Sunday school teacher and later she and Rick became resort owners in Monarch, MT. Kathy was a loving wife, mom and friend. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family; whether it was Black Friday shopping, going to the Mall of America or Valleyfair. She also enjoyed camping, dancing, bible studies and photography.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard Hatanpaa of Moose Lake, children: Alexander, Zachary and Adalia; grandchildren: Cullen Alan McGill, Noah Dale McGill, Elijah Joel Kinnet and baby Nachtsheim Hatanpaa on the way. She is also survived by her siblings: Doug Urban of New London, Larry Urban of New London, and Gloria Rieschl of Spicer; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
