Loraine 'Lori' Mallon

Loraine “Lori” Mallon, 97 of New London, died Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Olivia Care Center in Olivia.  A private family graveside service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.                                        

Loraine Ella Mallon was born on August 23, 1922, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Kally) Tompkins.  She grew up in North Minneapolis and attended North High School, graduating in 1941.  After her schooling she began work as a secretary at a flour mill and was united in marriage to Charles McGlynn.  This union was blessed with a daughter and a son.  She later married Jennings Canton and they were blessed with a son.  In 1977, she was united in marriage to Robert Mallon.  They made their home in California until moving to New London in 1989 to be closer to family.  Lori and Robert shared in 31 years of marriage before his death on January 14, 2009. 

Lori was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing bingo and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. 

Lori is survived by her children, Kathleen Cloakey and Chris (Kathy) Canton; grandchildren,  Joel Cloakey and Kellsey (Kevin) O’Neil; great-grandchildren, Michael, Joel Jr., and Andrew Cloakey and great-great-grandchildren, Alex, Sara, and Tigerlily Cloakey. 

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands; son, Steven McGlynn; sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Harry Hanson and brother, Ernest Tompkins.
