Louise Serreyn Obituary

Louise Serreyn, 94, of Willmar (formerly of Marshall) died Tuesday, June 25th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Saturday, June 29th at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven with the rosary starting at 7:00 pm. Her visitation will continue one hour prior to her service at the church.  Burial will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. www.hafh.org

Louise was born February 10, 1925, in Green Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Aldea (Dandurand) VanDenBroeke.  She was confirmed and receive her first communion at Holy Redeemer in Marshall.  She graduated from Cottonwood High School with the Class of 1943.  On November 28, 1944, Louise was united in marriage to Donald Henry Grewing in Green Valley.  Donald preceded her in death.  On February 14, 1961, Louise married Emil Serreyn.  Following their marriage they farmed in the Tyler area until 1969.  They moved to Marshall, where she worked at Kelco and later at Schwan’s Ice Cream plant for 15 years prior to her retirement. 

Louise enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, crafts and playing cards with family and friends. 

Surviving are her daughter, JoAnn Woltjer of Benson; step-son, Milo (and Jeanne) Serreyn of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Joyce (and Glenn) Przybylski of Illinois, Jerry (and Terra) Durheim and family of California, Laura Serreyn of Washington, Nathan (and Jennifer) Serreyn of Nevada, Jennifer (and Benjamin) Johnson of Murdock; and three great grandchildren: Hunter Roy, Mia Rose and Christopher Gene.  Also surviving are her brothers: Earl (and Jeanette) VanDenBroeke of Illinois, Leon (and Marian) VanDenBroeke of Marshall, and Lloyd (and Linda) VanDenBroeke of Missouri; and other family and friends.

In addition to her husbands, Donald and Emil, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Donald Henry Grewing Jr., daughter, Elaine Maag, grandson, Larry Allen Durheim, sons-in-law, Charles Maag and Larry Woltjer, and her brothers, Bernard, Henry and Edgar.
