Mabel Sandvig

Mabel B. Sandvig, 91 of Brooten, died Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Belgrade Nursing Home. Her funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Visitation will be from 5-7 Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior service at church. Burial will be in the Grace East Cemetery in Belgrade.

Mabel Bertha Sandvig was born June 7, 1927, in Belgrade, the daughter of William and Hulda (Zarling) Niklaus.  She grew up on the family farm north of Belgrade where she attended country grade school.  On October 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harland Sandvig.  This union was blessed with two sons.  They made their home southeast of Brooten where they farmed.  They were able to share in 40 years of marriage before Harland’s death on March 24, 1991.  She continued to live on the farm until becoming a resident of Belgrade Nursing Home 

Mabel was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed fishing, baking and working the farm with Harland.  She is remembered for her hard work ethic and devotion to her family and church.

Mabel died Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Belgrade Nursing Home at the age of 91. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (and LuAnn) Sandvig of Litchfield and Marvin Sandvig (and Julie Counter) of Brooten; grandchildren Lori (Jesse) Spaeth, Lisa Sandvig, and Randy (Julie) Sandvig and great-grandchildren, Brielle and Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harland; and brother, Leander.
