Pauline Leason Obituary

Pauline Leason, 94, of Willmar, died Monday, April 29th at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar. Her memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 4th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. www.hafh.org

 

Mary Pauline Leason was born May 31, 1924, the daughter of Albin and Alice (Mellgren) Anderson on the family farm in Chippewa County. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Louriston Township. She attended country school roughly a mile away from her home, where she had three classmates. Pauline attended Clara City High School until the 9th grade. On November 12, 1946, Pauline was united in marriage to Edward Leason at Zion Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. Following their marriage, they lived in the Pennock area.  In 1969, they purchased their own farm south of Willmar. Pauline was active at Calvary Lutheran Church where she participated in choir and also quilting on Thursday afternoons. She was also active in the Merry Widows, which was a kitchen instrument band, the American Legion Auxiliary and spending time at the Senior Center, where she loved to dance and play cards. Pauline quilted for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Following Ed’s passing, she started traveling. She enjoyed sightseeing in Alaska, Washington DC, Texas and California. Pauline enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandma.

 

Pauline is survived by her children: Edward “Sonny” (Debbie McLouth) Leason of Willmar, Jerry (Jody) Leason of New London, Cheryl (Joel) Ruter of Willmar, and Sherry (Mike) Kunkel of Sheridan, WY; grandchildren: Jody Leason, Paula (Steve) Lueders, Joan Leason, Jennifer Kurkosky, Sara (Chris) Yoch, Katie (Cole Ashburn) Ruter, Ben Ruter, Jordan (Kelsey) Ruter, Tom (Rebecca) Kunkel, Daniel (Jessie Ward) Kunkel and Tony (Cat Mamon) Kunkel; great-grandchildren: Naomi, Zachary, Hailey, Jared, Josie, Andrew, Madeline, Heatley, Elin, Marek, Jillian, and Evangelica. Also surviving are her brother, Dwaine Anderson of Columbia Heights, sister-in-law: Darlene Anderson of Montevideo and other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six siblings and grandson, Andy Leason.
