Rena (Feldman) Herrman was born on March 21, 1919, on the family farm in Ericson Township, Renville County to Reempt and Rena (Van Ellen) Feldman. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Ericson Township. She was baptized in Renville and confirmed on April 1, 1928, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville. She was united in marriage to Harold Herrman on November 21, 1940. Rena and Harold farmed in Renville and New London. After Harold passed away in 1998, Rena continued to live in Spicer until 2015 when she moved into Scandia Assisted Living in Willmar.
Rena enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. Also, sharing family time with her children and grandchildren was so important to Rena. Rena was a wonderful cook as her family recalls many dishes she would make for holidays. She was active in the Crow River Church Ladies Circle and the Spicer Dethlefs Senior Center. One of Rena’s most memorable moments is when Harold and herself were crowned King and Queen of the Dethlefs Senior Center and was honored to ride in the Spicer 4th of July parade. For many years while Rena lived in Spicer, the 4th of July was HER holiday as she hosted a family picnic at her home for all the family to gather after watching the parade.
Rena is survived by her son, Wayne (Marge Johnston) of Fairmont, MN; 7 Grandchildren: Kim (Terry) Calvin of Alma, Arkansas, Mike Henslin of Willmar, Dee (Arlen) Christianson of New London, Kathie (Chad) Mann of Graettinger Iowa, Deb (Tony) Clark of Grove City, Richard (Roxie) Herrman of Jewell Iowa, Nancy (Ryan) Johnson of Willmar; 19 Great-children; 25 Great-great-children; Brother, Richard (Velma) Feldman of Renville; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
