Richard Pederson Obituary

Richard Allen Pederson, 74, of Willmar, died Friday, October 18th at his home after a long illness of lung disease. His memorial service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday at Roseland Reformed Church in Roseland. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Richard Allen Pederson was born in Springfield, on April 12, 1945, to Oscar and Anna (Hoffrogge) Pederson. He attended Highwater Lutheran Church and the Lamberton Public Schools. He enlisted in the Army in October 1962. Richard spent one year in Korea. He was discharged from the Army at Fort Hood, Texas, in October of 1965. He moved to Willmar where he worked for Crown Auto. On November 1, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Mary Lou Graupmann in Montgomery. To this union three children were born: Mark, Chad and Lea. Richard worked for Crown Auto in Minneapolis, then he and Mary Lou moved to Willmar in 1972 and Richard continued to work for Crown Auto. In 1974, Richard started working for Norling Silo in Svea until 1985. He then worked for Gillis Ag in Willmar from 1985 until 2007. Richard and his family moved to Blomkest in February of 1979. Richard became members of Blomkest Baptist Church where he held many offices in the church. They later became members of the Roseland Reformed Church where Richard was active.

 

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Lou Pederson; children: Mark (and Denise) of Howard Lake, Chad of Willmar, and Lea (and Scott) Mahoney of Willmar; six grandchildren: Kayla, Ashley, Emily, and Noah Pederson, Angela and Samuel Mahoney; he is also survived by aunts, uncles and other family and friends.   

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Alvin, Darrell, Phillip and Ken; nephews: Ron Knakmuhs and Terry Deem.
