Robert Russell Sharpe

Bob Sharpe, 69, of Spicer, MN died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar, MN after a three year battle with lung cancer. A memorial service is planned Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, Spicer.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud, MN are preferred.

Robert (Bob) Russell Sharpe was born March 28, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Robert and Luella (Jensen) Sharpe.  Bob grew up in Eden Prairie, MN, and attended school there, graduating from Eden Prairie High School in 1968.  After high school, he attended Normandale College for one year.  Bob’s family also lived briefly in Buena Park, CA when Bob was very young.  He spent many summers working on the farms of his aunts and uncles in the Albert Lea/Glenville area.  He had very fond memories of growing up and working hard alongside family and entertaining his younger cousins. 

During his days in the Eden Prairie/Minnetonka areas, he met the love of his life, Mary Mahady.  They were united in marriage August 24, 1974 in Excelsior, MN.  From this love, four children were born: Leah, Jason, Jeremy and Justin. 

Bob spent much of his life working as hard as any man could.  Many years of his life were spent as a salesman of agricultural and turf equipment for Massey Ferguson and various other companies as well as owning his own business for several years.  His job took the family to many places of residence, including:  Shorewood, MN, Bismarck, ND, Ankeny, IA, Aberdeen, SD and Spicer, MN.  Many good friends and wonderful memories were made along the way. 

Bob loved spending as much time as possible with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed anything involving cars and motorcycles, tractors, hunting, fishing, lawn care and tinkering in his shop.  He was also an avid lover of country music.  Bob was an incredibly giving and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Spicer and their four children: daughter, Leah and husband, Bob Meisch of LaMoure, ND; son, Jason and wife, Amanda Sharpe of Eagan, MN; son Jeremy and wife, Kara Sharpe, of Eagan, MN; and son, Justin and wife, Rikka Sharpe, of Willmar, MN; grandchildren: Wyatt and Nicholas Meisch, Ruby and Robert Sharpe, Maxwell and Jack Sharpe, and Hady and Mira Sharpe.  Bob is also survived by his loving mother, Luella Sharpe of St. Anthony, MN and sisters Linda and husband, Roger Boeckman of Shakopee, MN and Lisa Ward of St. Anthony, MN, as well as countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends, one Goddaughter, Cathy Rudquist, and his loving dog, Tucker. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Sharpe; brother-in-law, Loren Ward; grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and many beloved pets.
