Sue Trandahl

Sue Trandahl, 69, of Willmar, died Sunday, September 8th at her home. Her memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 13th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Sue Trandahl was born on February 16, 1950, to Donald and Mildred (Goetsch) Roth in Madison, MN. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marietta. She attended school at Marieta Public Schools until the 11th grade and graduated from Dawson High School in 1968. She furthered her education at Willmar Area Vocational Tech where she received an Associate’s degree in Clerical Studies. On December 14, 1968, she was united in marriage to Gary Stegeman at the Dawson Grace Lutheran Church. To this union, three daughters were born: Laurie, Michelle, and Melissa. They would later divorce. Sue would later marry Arden Trandahl on July 24, 1982 at Calvary Lutheran Church. In May 1974, Sue started working at Willmar Pet Hospital where she continued to work for over 30 years! Sue later started working at the YMCA, Habitat for Humanity and most recently Compassionate Care. She enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren where she would teach them how to garden, and bake. Family get togethers were very important to Sue. She loved baking cookies and banana chocolate muffins for her grandchildren, who called her “Grandma Hunny Bunny.” She had a generous heart, often helping friends drive to their appointments and also helping them get groceries. Sue had many close friends and neighbors who she enjoyed spending time with. Sue was a strong wife, mom and grandma who was always there for her family.

She is survived by her husband, Arden, daughters: Laurie Lee (Todd) Johnson, Michelle Louise (Aaron) Willander, Melissa Ann (Jeff Gardner) Hemmeke; grandchildren: Katie, Maddy, Willy, Lilli, Olivia, Sophia, Roman, Sienna; step-children: Ted (Julie) Trandahl, Tami (Brad) Janshen, Tom (Jenny) Trandahl; grand-step children: Amber (Gui), Josiah (Madelyn), Taylor, Mackenzie (Ana), Tom, Rick, Mariah, Meghan and Madison and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Howard Roth, James Roth, Donna (Richard) Christenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Mildred Roth, sister: Jan Schake and sister-in-law: Joanne Roth.
