Adelaine Verona (Skindelien) Thompson was born at home to Sam and Myrtle (Foshager) Skindelien on November 5, 1929, in Arctander Township.  She was baptized and confirmed at East Norway Lake Lutheran in rural New London.  She grew up in the rural Pennock area where she attended District 69 school, graduated from New London High School in 1947, and completed Teacher’s training in Litchfield.

On June 11, 1949, she married Hubert Thompson at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church.  They had four children, Joanne, Jim, Mary, and Marna.  Verona and Hubert farmed together in rural Murdock and rural Pennock.  They moved to the Norway Lake area in 1979.  Verona worked at New London Agency and Pioneer Heritage Insurance in Spicer.  In 2014, Verona moved to Sterling Manor in Willmar.  Her life was blessed with many family and friends.

Verona was a lifelong member of East Norway Lake Lutheran Church, where she was part of the church choir, involved in Circle and Bible Study, and taught Bible School and Sunday School. Over the years, Verona did a lot of sewing (including wedding dresses and patching jeans for family). She was famous for her homemade donuts and rice pudding. Verona was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. Verona loved playing the piano for her own enjoyment.  She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Verona died on February 15, 2025, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar at the age of 95.

Verona is survived by her children, Joanne (David) Olson of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;  Jim (Diane) Thompson of Pennock;  Marna (Rick) Kallevig of Pennock; son-in-law, Mike Collins of Buffalo.  She was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Timothy (Anne) Kallevig, Jason (Katie) Collins, Kyle (Christy) Collins, Erica Olson (Michael Dickie), Kristen (Rhys) Brooker,  Jesse (Katie) Thompson, Trent (Emily) Thompson, Ryan (Lydia) Thompson, Sam (Kenzie) Thompson, and Amy Thompson (Jordan Bohlman). Her 22 great-grandchildren always brought a smile to her face.  Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Norma Skindelien, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
