Agnes K. Lane passed away September 3, 2021, to be with her Heavenly Father at the age of 102.
Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at Green Lake Lutheran Cemetery near Spicer.
Agnes Katherine Knutson was born December 14, 1918, in rural Spicer, Minnesota, the eldest child of Knute & Anna (Haverly) Knutson. She was baptized at Green Lake Lutheran Church in rural Spicer, Minnesota. Agnes was married to Edgar Lane on December 14, 1945, in Willmar. They farmed the Lane homestead until 1967 and moved into Willmar due to Edgar's health. Upon settling in Willmar, they started a used furniture business. Agnes always said, it was only successful because God's hand was in it with their tithing towards God's work.
After a time, they sold their home and were able to build a new one. The basement was set up as an apartment to rent to the college students. In 1985, Bryan Roush was one of their first renters in the new home. Bryan remained there until he graduated in 1987. After all these years Bryan has remained a loyal and loving friend to Agnes and the family. He is truly thought of as a member of our family. During the last days of Agnes's time on earth, Bryan was at her side, praying, reading the Bible and singing hymns to her. Thank you Bryan, from all of her Montana family, for always watching over her. She and Edgar loved you dearly. God Bless you!
Agnes was very active in her church, Zion Lutheran. She was a Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, Treasurer of Ladies Aid, Visitation for the Cheer Fund. Her daughter, Judy, always said, if the church doors were open, mom was there. After Zion closed, she rejoined the Green Lake Lutheran Church in rural Spicer. Agnes was always inviting family and friends to join her at church, and as much as she disliked driving, she would pick up numerous friends, so they could go to church and rejoice in God's Word.
Agnes is survived by her only child: Judy Manley of Lewistown, Montana; four grandchildren: Kristine Manley, Jason Manley, Shannon Biegel, and Kimberly Miller, all of Montana; eight great-grandchildren: CJ Lee, Cody Lee, Casey Lee, Brant Manley, MacKenzie Manley, Megan Manley, Sydney and Eva Rapkoch; and five great-great-grandchildren: Addilyn Lee, Madison Lee, Blake Manley, Sarah and Cash Gillihan. Also surviving are her sisters: Mavis (Fred) Gunderson and Eunice Sutton; a brother: Simon Knutson; and several nieces and nephews.
