Alan Norman Marcus was born March 17, 1964, in Willmar to Stanley and Vivian (Steinhilber) Marcus. He was baptized and later confirmed at Willmar Christian Reformed Church. He grew up in Willmar and attended Willmar schools, graduating from Willmar High School with the Class of 1982. Alan started working for Marcus Well where he worked with his father, uncle and brothers. He and his brothers purchased the company where Alan had worked for the past 30 years. On February 19, 1997, Alan was united in marriage to Anna Cardiel at his family’s home. This union was blessed with three children: Abby, Alex and Alexi. Alan was passionate about hunting, especially deer and pheasant. In his early years, he enjoyed going duck hunting with his brothers: David and Curtis. He also enjoyed cooking, freezing corn, eating candy and canning salsa. He learned from experience that you need to wash your hands after handling ghost peppers, especially if you are going to the bathroom. He loved debating politics and enjoyed seeing people’s reactions. Alan was always willing to help someone in need and would often help without being asked. He could be described as an awesome husband, dad, brother and friend.

Alan is survived by his wife, Anna of Willmar; children: Abby, Alex and Alexi all of Willmar; mother, Vivian Marcus; siblings: David (Verdelle) Marcus, Curtis (Jodelle) Marcus and Melanie (Corey) Pavelko all of Willmar; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Marcus.
