Alice Marie Korn was born March 14, 1936, to Alfred and Mabel (Brummer) Zielsdorf in Benson. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grace township. She attended school in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1954. She remained a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City
Alice was united in marriage to Calvin Korn on November 23, 1957, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. To this union on July 18, 1960, one son, Kevin, was born. After their marriage they moved to the family farm in rural Clara City where Alice helped by milking cows and taking care of other livestock. She loved all animals especially her cows, cats and dogs.
In 1995, Alice moved off the farm and into Clara City where she started helping at the Clara City Care Center in activities. She was perfect for this role because she loved visiting with people and planning events. In 2011. Alice moved briefly to Dawson, before moving into Bethesda Grand in Willmar. She enjoyed visiting with the staff and residents and found herself helping during the various activities.
Alice enjoyed visiting with people, she would often host her lady friends for tea, and would provide the best “eats.” She also made the best bread and hot chocolate. She was a loving grandmother, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a deep love for God and Jesus and a great passion for the people with who she shared her life.
Alice is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Korn of Holland; grandchildren: Marshall (Melanie) Korn of Atwater and their children: Samuel and Eli, Nathan (Amanda) Korn of Pierre, SD, and their children: Norine and Corvin, and Jeremy (Jessica) Korn of Lennox, SD and their children: Kaylee and Winry; brother, Bob (Linda) Zielsdorf of Benson; brother-in-law, Julius Ost of Montevideo; and other nieces, nephew, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kevin in 2014, and sister, Anita Ost in 2019.
