Annette M. Geer

Annette M. Geer, 90 of New London, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Carris Health and Care Center Suites in Willmar.  A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in New London.  Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Burbank Cemetery near New London.                     

Annette Marie Geer was born on the family farm on February 9, 1931, to Andrew and Anna (Mattson) Thorson. She grew up in New London and attended school there, graduating in 1949. She continued her education at St. Cloud State University, earning her elementary education degree in 1953. Annette married Hugh Geer on July 26, 1953. They had two children, Kevin and Randi. Hugh and Annette shared 60 years of marriage before his death in 2014. Annette then moved to Glen Oaks, later to Compassionate Cottage, and spent her final few months at Carris Health Care Center.

Annette taught school in Howard Lake and in New London for several years. She was a member of Willmar Assembly of God Church. An excellent cook and baker, she always had treats on hand for her grandkids and great-grandkids. She and Hugh enjoyed many years on Lake Florida, daily trips to Hillcrest, and pulling their camper to Arizona in the winter.

Annette died September 1st, 2021 at the age of 90. She is survived by her children: Kevin (Barb) Geer of New London and Randi (Rick) Huisinga of Willmar; six grandchildren: Michelle (Darren) Hardebeck, Melanie (Mike) Downey, Megan (Steve) Fladeboe, Brianna Huisinga, Aaron (Brittney) Huisinga and Austin Huisinga; nine great-grandchildren: Hailey, Zack, Hunter, Dylan, Hayden, Leah, Alex, Brooklyn and Jacob; and her brother Kenneth (Audrey) Thorson.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
