Arlene M Nelson

Arlene M. Nelson, 91 of New London died Friday, September 26, 2025 at her home in New London.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in New London.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.   Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.                                                                  

Arlene Marie Nelson was born on December 7, 1933 near Dassel, the daughter of Arthur and Hannah Mildred (Johnson) Fredeen.  She grew up in Dassel and New London where she attended New London High School, graduating in 1952.  On February 28, 1959, Arlene was united in marriage to Roger D. Nelson.  They made their home on Nest Lake where she worked for Sears before returning to school and becoming a dental assistant for Dr. Anderson in New London.  Arlene and Roger later built a home near Hawick and made wood crafts.  They were able to share in 41 years of marriage before Roger’s death on December 31, 1990. 

Arlene was a faithful member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in New London where she was in circle and helped with numerous missions.  She enjoyed serving her church, bowling, crocheting, sewing, many pets through the years, camping with her family, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling, once taking a trip to Europe to visit and meet family.   

Arlene  is survived by her daughter, Karen Johanson (Lauren Weber); son, Bryan (Juanita) Nelson; grandchildren, Mike, Ricki, Zach, and Celina; great-grandchildren, Andy, Nate, Karli, Brock, Timmy, Mitch, Parker, Olivia and Terraces, great-great-grandson, Brooks and sister, Shirley Kinports.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; great-great-grandson, Dechlan and three brothers, Richard, Laurel and Clarence.
