Barbara Morris Obituary

Barbara M Morris, 89 of Willmar, died January 6, 2026 at her home in Copperleaf Senior Living in Willmar. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Barbara Mae Morris was born on July 12, 1936 in Alexandria, the daughter of Edward and Ollie (Engstran) Johnson.  She grew up in Alexandria where she was baptized and confirmed at Svea Lutheran Church and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1954.  She continued her education at Gustavas Adolpus, graduating in 1958 with a major in math. She taught Jr. High Math for three years before meeting her husband, James. They were married on August 9, 1959 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  They made their home in Wayzata and Minnetonka before moving to downtown Minneapolis in 1987.  They retired and moved to the lake home on Lake Florida in 1994. Barb and James were able to share in 48 years of marriage before his death on February 9, 2008.

Barb was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer and a former member of Faith Presbyterian in Hopkins. She served as an Elder, sang in the choir and was in HPW.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, hunting and playing tennis. Her life centered on her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Barb is survived by her sons, Dick and (Cindy) Morris of Edina and Bill (Judi) Morris of Minnetonka; daughter-in-law, Wendy Morris of California; grandchildren, Alex (Torry), Tucker, Fletcher (Alex), Ryan (Kathryn), Caitie (David), Tim and Abbie (Trent) and great-grandchildren, Tennyson, Axel, Levi, Riley, Margot and Olivia. 

She was preceded in death by husband, James; son, John; and sisters, Evadne and Lois.
