Betty was a talented girl and at the age of 6 started piano lessons at Deda Boldt’s house. Deda gave her piano lessons and also had a special room that was a dream-room for a little girl while her parents went to Minneapolis for new car sales.

Betty was very active in school activities including sports and cheerleading as well as serving as Class President.  She graduated from Raymond High School in 1950, with having aspirations of being an attorney.

At the age of 12, Betty began playing piano for church services which were held above Stob’s Store. This was the start of Raymond Christian Reformed Church where she was a charter member and was the last living charter member. Her unique style of playing the piano will be missed with her having to quit playing due to macular degeneration, failing eyesight.

She attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, where she was a dorm leader and played basketball.

Bill Goeman who was employed by the Duininck Companies and later was employed by Stob’s Grocery.  On October 2, 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Bill at her parent’s home in Raymond. After the Oregon experience they moved back to the Midwest and she became a secretary to her husband, Bill, at Goeman Insurance Agency for 65 years. Betty was a great asset to the agency.
