Betty Jane (Fager) Gorans

Betty Gorans, 93, of Willmar, formerly of Svea, passed away Monday, August 11, 2026, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, at Svea Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.The service will be streamed on the church's YouTube page.  Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Hospice. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Homes.

Betty Jane (Fager) Gorans was born July 2, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Hilder (Swanson) Fager. She grew up on the north side of Chicago, attended Lake View Covenant Church, and graduated from Lake View High School in 1951.

On December 31, 1974, Betty married John Gorans in Willmar. They made their home near Svea, where they raised their three children: Paul, Robert, and Dianne. After retiring from farming, Betty and John moved to Willmar, where they have resided for the past few years.

Betty was a longtime member of Svea Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir, quilting group, and WELCA. She was also a member of the Wide Awake Birthday Club. Betty and John enjoyed traveling together and with the family. Many family trips were enjoyed by all.

Betty was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She was a sharp dresser who always enjoyed getting her hair done and looking her best. Betty was especially proud of her Swedish heritage and treasured the traditions that came with it.

Betty is survived by her husband, John; her three children: Paul Gorans of Alger, Michigan, Robert (Laura Stotts) Gorans of Loomis, California, and Dianne (Scott) Johnson of Blomkest, Minnesota; and her eight grandchildren: Victoria Gorans, Ethan Johnson, Brandon Gorans, Audrey Gorans, Erin Johnson, Tyler Gorans, Henry Stotts-Gorans, and Jasper Stotts-Gorans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilder Fager.
