Betty Jean Oyen, 96, of Willmar, died Monday, March 10th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 4th at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church in rural New London. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be at 12:00 pm, Friday, May 9th at West Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery in Crooks, SD. Betty Jean Oyen was born May 9, 1928, to John and Ruth (Dagget) Feay in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up and attended school in Sioux Falls. She continued her education where she studied to be a bookkeeper. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Butter’s in Willmar and in her later years she worked for Bremer Bank as a teller.
On October 14, 1954, Betty was united in marriage to Howard Oyen at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they farmed near Crooks until 1975 when they retired and moved to Spicer. In 1977, they moved to Willmar and in 1992 to New London Township. Since 2006, they have been living in New London.
Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, classical music, playing Bingo and Pass the Pig, and was also an avid reader.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Debra Oyen of Spicer; Cheryl (and Mike) Noonan of Pennock; and Nancy (and Rick) Reznecheck of Willmar; four grandchildren: Angela (and Jeremy) Sondrol, Melissa (and Adam) Key, Jennifer (and Michael) Cook, and Eric Parris; five great grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas Sondrol, Dylan and Kyra Lee and Logan Key.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, parents, and Kathy Romuld.
