Beverly Ledeboer

Beverly Jean Ledeboer, 93, of Willmar, passed away Sunday, August 9th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar after a long and fulfilling life. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 15th at First Reformed Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Roseland Reformed Church. Bev was born December 25, 1932, in Roseland, to Jacob and Gertrude (Douma) Hoekstra. She was baptized and made her Confession of Faith at Roseland Reformed Church.

Growing up in the Roseland area, Bev attended the local country school before continuing her education at Willmar High School, graduating in 1950.

On September 6, 1950, Beverly was united in marriage to Henry Ledeboer, at Roseland Reformed Church.  They opted for life in the big city (Willmar) and raised their three children in a neighborhood filled with good friends and cherished memories surrounding them.

Bev dedicated herself to caring for her family, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When her children were older, Bev enjoyed working at retail clothing and gift shops in Willmar. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending joy-filled time with family. No story about Bev would be complete without mentioning the special bond she shared with her sister, Ethel. Together, they were a dynamic duo, known for their laughter, sense of fun, and occasional harmless shenanigans. They were not only beloved sisters but also lifelong friends who played an irreplaceable role in one another’s lives.

Beverly was also a faithful member of First Reformed Church in Willmar for more than 65 years. She served for many years as the church organist, sang in the choir, and was involved in the women’s Bible study and other women’s ministries of the church.

Bev treasured time with her family, whether it was Sunday dinner, weekend sleepovers, or special occasions. She delighted in having the family gather, enjoy a meal together, and share happy times. She will forever be known for her famous chocolate cake, fudge, cookies and Chex mix! Christmas was not only Bev’s favorite holiday to celebrate but it was also her birthday. She relished this day by thoughtfully preparing food, decorating her home, and selecting meaningful gifts for family – all with her personal touch.

Bev was guided by and lived out her faith. Her kindness and warmth toward others were a true extension of her heart. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.

Bev is survived by her children, Roger (Peggy) Ledeboer, Scott (Ann) Ledeboer, and Jane Ledeboer; three grandchildren: Nathan Ledeboer, Sarah (Dan) Marek, and Rachal (Ryan) Johnson, and five great grandchildren, Sam, Isaac, Jack, Ellie and Drew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents, her sister, Ethel Slagter and brother-in-law, Gerald Slagter.
