Calvin Henry Korn, 89, of Clara City, died Tuesday, February 24th at his home. His service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org
Calvin Henry Korn was born on November 4, 1936, in Montevideo, the only child of Henry and Janette (Schroeder) Korn. He grew up on the family farm north of Clara City, where he made his home for his entire life. Calvin was baptized and later confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church, remaining active in the congregation during his younger years. He attended Clara City Public School and graduated in 1954.
Calvin was united in marriage to Alice Zielsdorf at St. John's Lutheran Church November 23, 1957, later separating. This union was blessed with one son, Kevin, born on July 18, 1960.
Calvin dedicated much of his life to farming alongside his family. He had a sharp eye for a bargain and was well known for finding exceptional deals. He enjoyed collecting lawnmowers, cars, boats and many other treasures over the years.
After stepping away from farming, Calvin attended Minnesota West Technical College in Granite Falls and graduated top of his class for Machine Tool. He worked in machine tool trade in Granite Falls, later managing hotels in Clara City and Montevideo. He enjoyed visiting with all the people traveling through town. He valued the friendships and relationships he built during his time there. He also valued visiting with family and neighbors.
Calvin is survived by his daughter-in-law: Linda Korn of Holland; grandchildren: Marshall (Melanie) Korn of Atwater and their children: Samuel and Eli, Nathan (Amanda) Korn of Madison, SD, and their children: Norine and Corvin, and Jeremy (Jessica) Korn of Lennox, SD, and their children: Kaylee and Winry.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Janette, and son, Kevin in 2014.
