Carol Haakenson Obituary

Carol A. Haakenson, 60 of Kerkhoven died Monday, March 30, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.  A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2026 at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Murdock.  Arrangements are with the Harvey Anderson and Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar.  

Carol Ann Haakenson was born on July 13, 1965 in Willmar, the daughter of David I. and Nona (Vandewinkel) Clark.  She grew up in Kerkhoven and attended KMS High School, graduating in 1984.  She continued her education at Ridgewater College where she received an A.A. in Information Technology and Music.  On May 20, 2002, Carol was united in marriage to Kevin Haakenson.  This union was blessed with a son and a daughter.

Carol began her work with Molenaar Industries before working many years at Bethesda in the kitchen. She was currently working for the KMS school district where she began as a kitchen aide, para and now foster grandmother. 

Carol enjoyed arts and crafts, playing Bingo, fishing and helping others.  She loved her children and all children from the littlest to the least. She is remembered for her great sense of humor, and caring and sharing nature.

She is survived by her children, Devin Haakenson and Amber Haakenson; step-children, Kayla Smith and Nic Haakenson; three grandchildren, Lexis, Adleigh, and Kyler; brother, David Clark; nieces, Theresa Herding and Sarah Fettig; ex-husband, Kevin Haakenson and numerous cousins and friends.
