Cathleen M. Idso

Cathleen “Cathy” Idso, 87, of Willmar, died Friday, May 9 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her memorial service will be 1:30 pm, Thursday, May 15th at Bethel Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar. Interment will be at 12:00 pm, (noon) Bethel Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Cathleen Mary Kelder was born on December 8, 1937, to Russell and Ada (Breilein) Kelder in LaMoure, ND. She attended Greenville Township Country School in Verona, and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1955. Growing up on the family farm, Cathy contributed to farm life by helping wherever needed. She pursued higher education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, earning her degree in 1959.

Following her graduation, she worked at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and later at Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI. In 1965, she returned to school at the University of Minnesota to obtain a teaching degree.

On December 27, 1971, Cathy married Gilbert Idso at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon, ND. She taught in Bloomington and St. Louis Park before joining the faculty at Willmar High School in 1972, where she remained until her retirement in 1992.

Cathy enjoyed walking, biking, and playing tennis. She and Gilbert cherished spending their winter months in Mesa, Arizona.

Cathy is survived by extended family, fellow teachers, community members and her friends at Bethel Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, parents, Russell and Ada.
