Chad Olson Obituary

Chad Olson, age 48, of Willmar, died Thursday, July 30, 2020, at his home in rural Raymond following a battle with cancer.

Chad's family will hold a celebration of his life at the family farm 2-4 pm on September 12, 2020.

Chad Allan Olson was born October 19, 1971, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Brian and Pamela (Haugen) Olson.  He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1990.  He then attended the Willmar Vo-Tech and earned his degree in autobody repair.  He worked in autobody for a short time before beginning a career with BNSF Railroad.  He was most recently working as a water service mechanic for the railroad.  On November 4, 2005, he married Angela Sward at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.  They lived in Pennock until 2017, when they purchased the farm in rural Raymond.  Chad loved living on the farm and enjoyed his John Deere tractors, taking care of his cows, showing his French Lop rabbits, woodworking, and fixing just about anything.  He was a perfectionist in whatever he was working on. He was a patient teacher in teaching his children his skills.  He enjoyed motorcycles and classic cars.  He also enjoyed watching football and NASCAR and listening to music, especially country and 80’s hair bands.   Chad was a happy, joking, fun-loving man and will be remembered for his many catch phrases such as “Stick with me kid, you’ll go places.”

Chad is survived by his wife: Angie Olson; his children: Jordan, Nick, Kourtny (and fiancé Delany), Seantel, and Charly; and four grandchildren: Lauralai, Erin, Kyen, and Raelyn.  Also surviving are his mother: Pamela Haugen; a sister: Candy (and Bob) Skaro; a brother: DJ Olson (and fiancé Taylor); his mother-in-law: Pamela Sward; and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father: Brian Olson.
