Charlene Loose, age 83, of New London, died Monday evening, March 29, at Glen Oaks Senior Living in New London.
Her memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Charlene Joyce Loose was born April 17, 1937, on her family’s farm in Six Mile Grove Township, near Danvers, Minnesota, the daughter of Leon Leslie and Ethel Martha (Hoffman) Darling. She was baptized on May 5, 1937 by Pastor A. Zuberbier at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township near Holloway, Minnesota and was confirmed by Pastor Harold S. Nashiem on June 15, 1952 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Benson, Minnesota.
Charlene attended District 84 School near Danvers during her elementary years and graduated from Benson High School in 1955. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Cloud State University in 1958. She taught third grade in Iowa, Virginia, Montana, Florida, and Minnesota.
She married James Hamilton Warmack of Louisville, Kentucky on October 24, 1959 in Great Falls, Montana. To this union three children were born: James Hamilton, David Allen and Carolyn Love Warmack. Charlene returned to Minnesota in 1970 after the death of her daughter, Carolyn. She continued to care for her sons as a single parent in Willmar and taught at Washington Elementary School.
On July 26, 1980, she was married to Dennis Leonard Loose by Pastor Henry V. Bucholz at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shible Township near Appleton, Minnesota. She moved north of Appleton to become a full-time farm homemaker. In 1990, Char and Dennis purchased a home in Benson, where they spent winters before retiring from farming in 1986. They moved to Willmar in 2010 and Charlene most recently resided at Glen Oaks Senior Living in New London.
Charlene was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, crafting, and visiting with her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons: James (and Karen) Warmack of East Grand Forks, MN and David (and Janet) Warmack of Spicer, MN; and three grandchildren: Kathleen (and Robert) Woodworth, James Warmack III, and Julia Warmack. Also surviving are a brother: Allen (and Beverly) Darling of Bismarck, ND; sisters: Carol Skoff of Arvada, CO, and Maxine Swenson of Bismarck, ND; nieces: Patti, Elizabeth, Sara, and Jennifer; nephews: Aaron, Allen, and Nathan; sister-in-law: Darlene Loose; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Dennis Loose in 2018; and her daughter: Carolyn.
