Charles was born on December 30, 1940, on the family farm near Belgrade, to Herbert and Catherine (Welle) Singsank. He was raised with strong values and a deep connection to the land, graduating from Belgrade High School in 1958. On April 20, 1963, he married the love of his life, Marlene Deadrick, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, raising four sons and one daughter.
Throughout his life, Charles was known for his unwavering work ethic. He began his career with General Motors (1962–1969), then managed PDQ Food Stores (1969–1975), before returning to his roots on the family farm. He farmed faithfully until his retirement in 2001, later enjoying part-time work at the Lynx Golf Course in Sauk Centre.
Charles was a lifelong member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, past board member of the Belgrade Co-op, Belgrade Elevator, and the BBE School Board.
Charles was a proud and passionate sports fan who followed professional and college sports, especially the Gophers, Vikings, and Twins. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, cherished holiday gatherings, playing cards, visiting with friends, and taking in evening drives to check on the crops. He was a perfectionist who took pride in anything he did, always dedicated with a strong work ethic. He passed on a legacy of integrity, strong faith, a positive outlook on life, and many positive affirmations to his children and grandchildren.
Even as Alzheimer’s disease gradually dimmed his memory, Charles’s spirit remained strong. He never lost his love for family, his quiet strength, or his enduring faith.
Charles will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Marlene; his children: Terry (Kim) Singsank of Belgrade, Bill (Gail) Singsank of Watertown, Lynn (Jeff) Edwardy of Prior Lake, Paul (Fanny) Singsank of Willmar, and Mike (Heather) Singsank of Brooklyn Park; 12 grandchildren: Noah (Brooke), Madelynn, and Emily (Connor Kliber) Singsank; Evan and Erin Singsank; Ayla and Maya Edwardy; Jasmine (Elvis Moreira), Delilah, and Jayden Singsank; Kylee and Kennedy Singsank; and two great-grandchildren: Rhaella Moreira and Nicholas Singsank; two brothers, Jim Singsank of Dumfries, VA; Pat (Jody) Singsank of Kula, HI; two sisters, Connie (Bill) Sylte of Alameda, CA; Janice (Roger) Illies of Cold Spring, MN.
