Christopher Jon Hanson

Christopher Jon Hanson, 50, of Atwater, died Tuesday, August 24th at his home. His memorial service will be at 11:00 am,Thursday, September 16th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. www.hafh.org

Christopher Jon Hanson was born October 20, 1970, to Clarence and Karen (Gessner) Hanson in Storm Lake, IA. At the age of 5 he and his family moved to Atwater where Chris attended elementary school before graduating from ACGC High School in 1989. He furthered his education at Ridgewater College where he studied Auto Body. He worked Anderson Chemical in Litchfield for ten years before moving to Cushing, IA, where he lived for 13 years. During this time, he started working at a Menard’s in Sioux City where he continued to work for 7 years. Chris moved back to Atwater in 2014. On January 15, 2016, Chris was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Pallum. They continued to live in Atwater. Chris enjoyed auto body, playing guitars, having bonfires and spending time working on cars, especially his 1963 Grand Prix and 1984 Mustang. He was a loving husband, son, brother and friend.

Chris is survived by his wife, Sandra; mother, Karen Hanson of Atwater; brother, Cory (Michelle) Hanson of Dassel; nieces and nephews: Scott (Christine) Hanson, Brad (Samantha) Hanson, Andrew Hanson, Kylene, Kelseigh, Cameron and Lauren Hanson; and step-sons: Andrew Pallum, and Avery Deterling; as well as other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Dean Hanson, and brother, Donald Hanson.
