Claudette Faye Miner, 89, of Willmar, died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at CentraCare Rice Care Center in Willmar. Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, at Sunburg Free Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Claudette Faye Miner was born February 6, 1934, to Magnus and Eva (Sund) Skimland in Belgrade, Minnesota. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Belgrade and also attended Belgrade High School. When Claudette was 17, she was united in marriage to Floyd K. Miner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten, on December 1, 1951. She moved to Willmar where they purchased the Miner generational farm, where she continued to live until moving into the nursing home. To this union four children were born: twin daughters, Meredith and Dawn, and also Mark and Kathryn. During this time Claudette stayed at home with the children and enjoyed raising them. She loved telling and writing family stories and genealogy with great detail. She could go back over six generations. She loved spending time with family at the Games Lake family cottage. Claudette even traveled to Norway twice so she could visit relatives. She enjoyed baking bread and cookies, bargains and garage sales. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.
Claudette is survived by her children: Meredith (Kevin) Earley of Alliance, NE, Mark Miner of Willmar, Kathryn (Dana) Burnell of Sammamish, WA; six grandchildren: Wade, Shantel, Matthew, Alex, Devin and Lacey; and eight great-grandchildren: Jaden, Gracie, Penelope, Katya, Corey, Lexie, Jacki and Calum. She is also survived by her sister, Patty (Jack) Nicholson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents; siblings: Elwood Skimland, Harvey Skimland, Beverly Klesk and Don Skimland; daughter, Dawn Zollman; and great-grand-daughter, Aubrey Joy VanZyll.
