Clifford Wig, 96, of Spicer, died Saturday, July 5th at his home. His memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 26th at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Clifford Irwin Wig was born July 24, 1928, to Lars and Klara (Wiig) Wig on the family farm near Bass Lake in Spicer. Shortly after his birth he and his family moved to Irwin, IA. In 1936, they moved back to the Spicer area where they purchased their farm on the south side of the Twin Lakes. Clifford attended Country School District 51 until the 8th grade. After his schooling he started working full time on the family farm. In 1946, Clifford purchased his first tractor which he later sold to his brother, Roger. Clifford also worked for Mike’s Dock and Yard and for Dale Fladeboe, where he enjoyed plowing fields until he was 88 years old! He enjoyed being in the country and watching trees, shrubs and flowers grow. Clifford was also active at Faith Lutheran Church where he would often sing in the choir and at funerals. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.
Clifford is survived by his brother, Roger (Cheryl) Wig of Spicer; great-nephew, David (Sarah) Nelson of Spicer and their children: Cadence, Mythias and Milaunia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Margot (Arnold) Tvete, Leonard Wig, and Lillian (Luther) Nelson; and nieces and nephews: Leonard E. Wig, Kenneth Wig, Sharon Nelson, and Luvern Tvete.
