Corinne Evelyn (Larson) Ferguson

Corinne Evelyn Ferguson, 94, of Willmar,  passed away on November 13th, after being able to remain living in her home. 

A  celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 22nd, at 11:00 at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar.  A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar (https://www.hafh.org/).

Corinne was born on June 18th, 1927, in Isle, MN to Carl and Charlotte (Halvorson) Larson. She grew up in the Atwater area, graduated from Atwater High School in 1945, and attended Miss Woods Training School for Teachers of Young Children in Mpls. On June 5, 1948, Corinne married Lavern Ferguson and they made their home in the Willmar area. They had 4 daughters: Linda, Laurie, Peggy, and Wendy. She continued her education and graduated from St. Cloud State with an Early Education Degree. Corinne taught for 33+ years, starting in Litchfield, followed by Atwater, and then the majority of her career was in Willmar teaching Kindergarten. She earned the honor of Teacher of the Year. Corinne was an active member of the First Presbtyerian Church of Willmar and served on the board of trustees for 3 years. She enjoyed playing Bridge, crocheting, knitting, reading, and sewing.  She sewed matching dresses for her daughters when they were young. Lavern and Corinne had a cabin on Green Lake in Spicer where many summers were spent enjoying “lake life”. Corinne also enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, snowmobiling, and entertaining. She enjoyed hosting many family holidays at her house. Holidays were always fun at Grandma Fergie’s house!

Corinne is survived by her daughters: Peggy Schow of Blomkest and Wendy (Rod) Pfeifer of Ramsey, MN; sons-in-Law: Bob Okland (Shirley Neighbors) of Litchfield and Lyndon Swenson (Shelly Radtke) of Raymond; and grandchildren:  Matt Okland of Willmar, Carrie (Scott) Thomas of Willmar, Loren Swenson (Christy Swanson) of Raymond, Londa Swenson of Renville, Kyle (Katie) Schow of Willmar, Sara (Eric) Swift of St. Paul, Dan (Tonya) Pfeifer of Otsego, and Scott Pfeifer of Elk River. She had 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Lavern; daughters: Linda Okland and Laurie Swenson; son-in-law: Reggie Schow; grandson: Lane Swenson; and granddaughter: Karin Pfeifer.
