Craig Hanson Obituary

Craig Hanson, 72, of Willmar, died Monday, April 6th at St. Cloud Hospital. His memorial service will be 1:00 pm, Friday, June 26th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. His visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home and continue one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Svea Lutheran Cemetery. Craig Morris Hanson was born to Morris B. and June M. (Ruh) Hanson on September 3, 1947, in Willmar. He was baptized and later confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. He also attended school in Willmar where he graduated from Willmar High School in 1965. Craig continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tec and graduated in 1967. He enlisted in the US Navy where he served for six years, serving four years in Vietnam. During this time, he was aboard the USS Jouett where he became a Golden Shellback. On April 30, 1977, Craig was united in marriage to Judy Gustafson at the United Methodist Church in Willmar. They would have celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary this month, and over the years enjoyed bringing her flowers. He never forgot how many years they spent together. They made their home in Willmar where they raised their daughter, Tracy. Craig started working at Willmar Municipal Utilities where he was a Boiler Operator for 34 years. Craig enjoyed snowmobiling, Thursday night car races, duck and goose hunting, hunting trips to Montana, sheet metal work, and woodworking in his garage. Craig was a wonderful grandpa and his grandkids were the highlight of his life. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and his helpful nature. 

Craig is survived by his wife: Judy Hanson of Willmar; daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Jeff Conklin of Buffalo; and their daughters: Kaelynn and Emalynn Conklin. He is also survived by his siblings: Carolyn Sakariason, and Byron Hanson. Craig is also survived by his nieces and nephews, his Brother-in law and his wife. As well as other loving family and very loyal friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and other family.
