Dallas J. “Mick” Berghuis, 84, of Clara City, died Wednesday, April 9th at CentraCare Rice Hospital in Willmar. His visitation will be from 2-4:00 pm, Sunday, April 13th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Clara City with a prayer service at 4:00 pm. Burial will be at Bethany Reformed Cemetery in Clara City. www.hafh.org
Dallas “Mick” Berghuis was born December 30, 1940, to Harry and Mabel (Hebrink) Berghuis on the family farm near Prinsburg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. He attended school in Prinsburg until his dads passing when Mick was in the 8th grade. He then took over running the family farm. On June 30, 1961, Dallas was united in marriage to Sharon Wolf at the Methodist Church in Renville. To this union four children were born: Steve, Pam, Terry Jo and Scott. They lived on the family farm until moving into town in 1972. Mick started working for Berghuis Road Construction and continued to work there for eight years before working at Wearda Implement, where he retired at 70 years old. Mick enjoyed camping, fishing, wood working and carving wood. He also loved riding his trike that he built, and he enjoyed riding his bike, often times many miles at a time. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters: Pam (Dave) Lieser of Clara City, and Terry Jo Miller of Maynard; grandchildren: Deb Berghuis, Brad (Karen) Berghuis, Jordan (Amanda Lee) Miller, Amanda (Casey) Gramm, and Caitlin (Chris) Mandery; 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Edith Ahrenholz; sister-in-law, Arvilla Berghuis and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Scott and Steve Berghuis; great-granddaughter, Hailey Berghuis; great-grandson, Myles Mandery; three brothers and two sisters.
