Daniel Dean Magnuson was born June 8, 1941, on the family farm near Pennock, Minnesota, to Chester and Mae (Carlson) Magnuson. He grew up near Pennock, attended country school, and later graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1959. Following high school, he attended Minneapolis Business College.

On June 21, 1963, Dan was united in marriage to Shirley Denton at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. They were blessed with two daughters, Heather and Lisa. The family made their home in South Minneapolis and later lived in Golden Valley and Plymouth before moving to Hamel.

Dan served his country in the U.S. Army in the early 1970s and continued in the Army Reserve for six years following his discharge. He began his career as a cost accountant with Erickson Power Lift in Minneapolis. He later transitioned into banking, enjoying a long career with Norwest Bank/Wells Fargo, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2006. In retirement, he worked part-time driving cars for Enterprise.

Dan enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, camping, and skiing. He also loved traveling, especially cruises and trips to Switzerland. Most of all, he cherished time with his family and adored his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his daughters, Heather Bolduc and Lisa (Mike) Rocca; four grandchildren, Sara (Riley) Blake, Jack Bolduc, Stephanie Rocca, and Michael Rocca; a brother, John (Doreen) Magnuson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mae Magnuson; two sisters, Donna (Donald) Friedlein and Mavis (Kenneth) Danielson; and a nephew, Jay Magnuson.
