David John Kashmark

David J. Kashmark, 82, of Willmar, died Tuesday, July 20th at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  There will be a visitation from 2-4 pm, Saturday, July 24th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with a prayer service to be held at 4:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, 1600 University Ave West, Suite 300, St. Paul, MN, 55104, or www.epilepsyfoundationmn.org.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, www.hafh.org

David John was born September 10. 1938, in Swift County, Minnesota, the son of John and Evelyn (Nelson) Kashmark.  He was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith in Holloway. When he was 12, he went to live with his uncle and aunt, helping them farm.  He attended schools in Appleton and Holloway, and graduated from Morris Ag School in 1957.  Following his schooling, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving 10 plus years.

On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Donna Jensen at EUB Church, rural Odessa.  They were blessed with three sons, Dallas, Dennis and Duane.

They lived in Eden Prairie where he worked for Massey Ferguson, and in 1976 they moved to Kandiyohi and they purchased the grocery store.  Dave also drove school bus for many years, sold insurance and drove handicap van, which he truly enjoyed as he was able to help people. He was active in Kandiyohi Men’s Club, Ebenezer Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, men’s club and was an usher.

Dave loved to hunt and fish, and telling stories about some of his experiences in life.  His family was very important to him and he enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  He could be heard letting the refs know what he thought.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He will be missed by all.

Left to remember Dave’s life are his loving wife, Donna; sons: Dallas (and Elsie), Dennis (and Sandy), Duane (and Maret); grandsons: Gavyn (and Elizabeth) Ketterling, Beau (and Nicole) Kashmark, Dakotah Kashmark, Ryan Kashmark, Nathaniel Kashmark; great granddaughters: Brynn and Henley Ketterling, and Kora Kashmark; sisters: Dar Gavin, Rosanne Nicholson, Shari (and John) Conroy, Patsie (and Richard) Krebs and Mitch (and Kevin) Hamann; brothers: Lance Kashmark, and Terry (and Kari) Kashmark; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Jensen, along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer; parents, John and Evelyn; brother, Charles, sister, Deanna and in-laws, Alvin and Marlus Jensen and brother-in-law, Spencer Jensen.
