David B. Martin

David B. Martin, 59 of New London, formerly of Appleton, died Monday, April 27, 2020 at GlenOaks Care Center.  Services will be private. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

David Brian Martin was born on May 14, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma, the son of Lee and Ruth Ann (Marris) Martin.  He attended elementary and high school in Seneca, Missouri, graduating in 1978.  He later continued his education online and received degrees as a private investigator, welder and lock smith.   After high school he worked for his father in a saw mill in Anderson, Missouri. He later moved to Wisconsin where he meet Pearl Brown in 1984.  They were united in marriage on December 7, 1987 and made their home in Ortonville and Tyler before settling in Appleton.  He worked over the road as a trucker for Denny Bloomgring Trucking in Tyler and for Borstod Rock in Appleton. He later drove semi with his daughter, Alicia in Morris.  He retired after 31 years of driving semi from Contrution Company in Willmar after suffering a stroke while working.

David always enjoyed taking his family with him while he was driving semi across country.  He enjoyed spending time with his family going camping, fishing, and above all the time spent with his grandchildren.  David cherished time with his wife especially when they went out for supper at his two favorite places, Pizza Ranch and KFC.  David was most happy when he was able to see his son, Luke. This often meant he was getting a haircut, spending some quality time with his son or seeing the guys he worked with from Borstod Rock. He also enjoyed the days his son, Todd and daughter, Alicia would help him get back into his wife’s semi just to be able to go for a ride.  He was very proud and bragged about how some of his kids followed in his footsteps. David will be missed by numerous grandchildren and family members.  Until we meet again, fly high with your grandson, Elian.

David died on Monday, April 27, 2020 at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.  He is survived by his wife, Pearl of 36 years; mother, Ruth Ann (Robert) Homler;  children, Brian (Kristy) Martin of Oklahoma, Luther (Ami) Brown of St. Paul, Jessica Brown of Appleton, Todd (Erica) Brown of Appleton, Shannon (Gustavo) Duenaz of Appleton, Alicia Martin (Ryan Paschke) of Appleton and Rebecca Martin of Willmar; 24 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and siblings, Carl (Linda) Martin, Jimmy (Mia) Martin, Lee Martin, Lisa (Charlie) Lindsey, Kathy DuFay and Rhonda Taylor.

David was preceded in death by infant child; grandson, Elian Guadalupe Torres and father, Lee Martin.
