David James Zenner, 62, of Willmar, died Tuesday, May 21st at St. Cloud Hospital. His funeral service will be at 5:00 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at the Willmar American Legion from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. www.hafh.org
David James Zenner was born on September 16, 1956, in Willmar to Donald Zenner and Audrey “Nadine” Van. He grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1975. During this time Dave drove school bus and worked in construction. On September 9, 1979 David married Cheryl Turbes at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. To this union, their son Josh was born. Dave started working as a bartender at various establishments but spent the past 18 years at the Willmar American Legion. Dave was an active member of the Sons of American Legion for 16 years. Dave was also a member of the Willmar Eagle’s club where he was awarded Eagle of the year in 1999 along with being a member of the 2007 Ritual Team State Champions. Dave enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with his friends and family, and especially cheering on the Minnesota Vikings as a long time fan. He was known for his great sense of humor and a very big heart. He was also very well known by many as “Uncle Dave”
David is survived by his son, Josh Zenner of Willmar, grandchildren: Brittni Zenner, Brandon Zenner, Bradley Zenner, Ava Carlson, Hudson Alonso, Carter Zenner and great grandson Anthony Jr Barrientos. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael Zenner of Cottage Grove, Daniel (Missy) Zenner of Edina and Leah Thorpe of Willmar along with several nieces and nephews who he had a special relationship with.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
