Dean Grafenstein Obituary

Dean Lee Grafenstein was born November 13, 1944, in Gainesville, TX, to Wesley and Viola (Forkrud) Grafenstein. They lived in Gainesville while Wesley was in the service. Their family later moved to Renville where Dean graduated from high school in 1962. After graduation, Dean enlisted in the US Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Dean was united in marriage to Eula Mensing in July of 1983. This union was blessed with two daughters: Sarah and Desarae. They lived in Pennock where Dean later opened his own gym. Dean and Eula later divorced in 1989. During this time, Dean also worked as a bartender at The Pool and Pub, American Legion, and VFW. Dean enjoyed lifting weights, where he competed as a body builder. He also enjoyed watching football, riding his Harley-Davidson, and going to Sturgis. Dean especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking them on trips to the park. He was a loving dad, grandpa, and friend who will be missed beyond measure.

Dean is survived by his daughters: Sarah (Alex Ramirez) Grafenstein of Willmar and Desarae (Tyler) Larson of Kandiyohi; grandchildren: Alexis Ramirez, Alejandro Ramirez, Jr., Austin Lee Ramirez and Axyl Larson. He is also survived by his brothers: Kermit (Linda) Grafenstein of Brooklyn Park and Gale (Julie) Grafenstein of Mora; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley in 1987, and Viola in 2016.
