Dean Suter, 78, of Belgrade, died Tuesday, March 11 at his home in Belgrade. His memorial service will be 11:00 am, Friday, March 14 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Visitation will be two hours prior to his service at the church. Interment will be at St. Donatus Catholic Cemetery in Brooten. Dean Eugene Suter was born on April 18, 1946, to Albert and Margaret (Dondelinger) Suter in Montevideo. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Clara’s Catholic Church in Clara City. Dean graduated from Maynard High School in 1964 and began his career as a farmer shortly after. He started farming in Clara City and later moved to Belgrade, where he spent the next 50 years working the land. Farming was a passion for Dean, and he found great joy in it throughout his life.
Dean loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed horseback riding, taking trips with his horses, and camping. A man of deep faith, Dean cherished his loved ones dearly. In 2012, Dean met Sandy Plantz, and the two spent 12 wonderful years together. They shared memorable trips to the Rocky Mountains in the summer and enjoyed winter getaways to Arizona, where they would go horseback riding.
Dean is survived by his children: Stacy (Roger) Braegelmann of Big Lake, Lori (Marc) Mattice of Eden Valley, and Chad (Cheryl) Suter of Hawley; grandchildren: Adam (Tegan) Braegelmann, Bret (Jamie) Mattice, Nicole (Ryan) Treichel, Sonora (Noah) Borleis, Wyatt Suter, and Clay Suter; and his significant other, Sandy Plantz. He is also survived by his siblings: Marjorie Walstad, Milton (Janice) Suter, Mary Ann Groothuis, Dorothy Kranz, and Tom (Diane) Suter.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Albert Suter and Shirley Claggett.
